does this happen turning both ways? Does it sound like the front end or actually in the car, the actual steering wheel?

Yes, it happens pretty much both ways. But it sounds like its within the wheel/column or up front.

Possibly the steering shaft/joints.

it sounds like its up front with me. Right where you turn the steering wheel upfront. sort of where the signal switch is located. Once you turn the wheel, thats where it sounds like its coming from.

Sounds like maybe some broken plastic in the signal switch or something. Do the signals work and cancel properly?

I will be sure to check that out tomorrow. I remember a while ago, it wouldn't stay on the position, it would keep flipping back off, with a very slight movement of the wheel.

have you tried a stethescope (or a long extension or screwdriver) to listen to the column when you turn the wheel to locate the noise? assuming of course you can hear when when you turn the wheels without the car moving!

Ya, the noise happens when the car is not moving/on as well.

Is it the switch itself or whats the name for it? cancel cam? Any universal switches out there that I can get?

Ya, I think its the turn signal cancel cam.

pop the steering wheel off and take a look.  If you've got tilt steering you may have a little more trouble getting a replacement switch, but you've got to figure out if it's the cancelling cam or the switch itself.  If you're lucky, you've just popped a spring off or something simple like that.

and before popping anything off take pics or whatever so you remember how to put all those little bits back together! I took my steering column apart and now my horn only works when making a hard right turn!!LOL
