What a wonderful way to see some country. A lot less traffic than the Trans Canada, too.

Wouldn't a hy-railer make a great project? You could drive it on street or track and dress it up in CN or CP colours too......maybe even Grand Trunk Railroad.

I've long thought that travelling in a group of those maintenance scooters (forget the real name) would be a fantastic vacation. But, you have to have a trailer and a tow vehicle, and enough bodies to lift them on and off the tracks.

Rollin' in an old station wagon that would take all your luggage and the kids, and that you could also drive to the nearest restaurant, would be way better. You could even build a small hy-rail trailer to go with it.

You can actually travel on some of the less busy rail lines at set times. Oh baby...........I'm starting to think I've found my unique project idea. wink

Those high rail equiped cars are always cool to see. When I worked for CP Rail thats some of the equipment we used to stock. Go though a pile of replacement parts each year. The rail and men are not easy on the equipment.

I wonder how the tires would hold up having all the weight concentrated on just the center of the tread. And do the guide wheels just guide, or do they bear some of the weight?

I showed this to my 20 year old. When a 20 year old is impressed with something you gotta know it is cool.

That 1957 Safari is a cool rig. I can't imagine touring North America in that.

I've added a Hy-Railing Cadillac picture just to appease the Caddy Club. They really get distressed if they don't get attention.

That photo is somthing else John. That Cadillac has a siren  mounted on the bumper and red and white flashers on each side of the grille. That car is post war because it has the V emblem but still too early for a body change from pre war 1941, probably a 1948.
