is anyone from any of these towns? may remember any of these cars?
I am positive that the 1969 Z28 shown is the very same car that used to drive by my bus stop every morning back in 1975-76. I lived in Ancaster. There were no new car dealers in town so one had to go to the surrounding areas (generally Hamilton, Burlington, Caledonia , Binbrook or even Brantford) to purchase a new car. Many Ancaster cars were sold new out of Maurice Carter Chev-Olds, the same dealer that sold this Z28.
Anyway, back in 1974 through about 1976 Ancaster had roads torn up all over the place for a big infrastructure project, the installation of sewers. In 1975 while waiting for my schoolbus every morning, that Z28 would drive slowly through the construction zone, step up onto the pavement right in front of our bus stop, and stomp on it from a standing start through 3 gears. It must have had 4.10 gears and headers at the time; it sounded hot and really wound out fast. The passenger in the car usually tried to reach for the dash but couldnt; he just laughed out loud most mornings. It was a Rally Green Z28 with white stripes, black interior and base exterior. https://i955.photobucket.com/albums/ae36/canadianponcho/main.jpg
Around that same time I also used to occasionally see a Frost Green 1969 Biscayne 2-door sedan with a 427 drive past our bus stop. It had Appliance 5-spoke mags on it. The car was repainted an apple green around 1976. Back in maybe 2007 on possibly the Yenko site I saw a picture of that 69 Biscayne. It was sold new out of Maurice Carter Chev-Olds and is still in the possession of the original owner in Brantford, Ont. (see attachment)
I have a lot of stories and recollections. When I get a chance I will post the details of a few of them, including a 1969 GTO convertible that was sold new to a doctor in Hamilton that is a family friend. It was purchased through Douglas Pontiac Buick Cadillac GMC in Hamilton (now Ainslee Hogan). I went to look at it in late 2003 when the original owner decided to sell. They were asking $18000 Cdn. but when we looked closely we could see a lot of work was necessary (trunk, floor, inner fenders, out fenders were barely starting to bubble).
An ex-neighbor had a '72 Lemans GT that he bought from the original owner in 1989. The car was sold new out of Plaza Motors (I think) in Novemeber 1971 and put away for the winter. It was winter stored all it's life. It was really stripped down, having just the G80 Safe-T-Track (3.55), L78 (400 4-barrel d/e V8), M20 4-speed, N10 dual exhaust system (GTO type with side splitters), U63 AM radio, W62 (GT equipment). It was a 1972 version of the GT-37. It had manual steering & manual 4-wheel drum brakes (lighter, cheaper & no drag). He sold it in 2003 to a friend of his who lives near Barrie.

Whadda ya think, we're just a bunch of one-toothed hillbillies out here or something? Well, ok, we are but we bought some pretty cool cars.....
And in my picture if you look carefully you can see part of a second tooth.
Seriously, Manitoba has some amazing rare musclecars. Some people claim (and I'm not being funny) that part of the reason is our cold winters allow plenty of time to restore them. And also that it makes us fanatics in the summer because we have such a short season.

Concerning that special order 1971 Chevy truck, I remember seeing 2 special order 1971 pickups in pink! One was a basic Chevrolet Custom 10 Fleetside owned by a local Shell gas station in Ancaster, Glendale Motors. I thought they had it painted after taking delivery, that is until I saw a brand new 1971 GMC 1500 Wideside on the lot at the Pontiac Buick GMC dealer in Port Dover, Ontario back in 1971 in the same pink colour. I believe that one was a Sierra Grande as it had the moldings on it. Both trucks had a white 2-tone on the roof, the GMC I think also had a white 2-tone down low on the body at rocker level.
