Like my Daughter says, Best dam picture ever

She sent me this pic of me and her years ago working on her Fiero. We had to change out the 2.5 L engine and said I would do it if she helped. Forgot about this pic until she found it the other day. She put in the subject line Best dam picture ever . I remember she realy dug in there.  A little father and daughter bonding. Now she is grown up married with three kids.

That is very very cool Ian.

You are very blessed. Many dads will be jealous of you knowing you two have that relationship.

You're a lucky man!  I've got two stepkids that have never their hands greasy yet!

Luckily I've got a few nephews who love old oil and grime.

Nice pic.
I'm looking forward to our little guy getting into the garage. Maybe he'll get started on tinkering earlier on than his old man which would be cool.

OK Carl, that looks like a Chevelle or a Monte Carlo.  What is the story behind that car?

That picture of you and your daughter is truly worth a thousand words! Even if she really didn't learn all the systems, she at least has some basic knowledge of what actually goes on in a engine bay. Probably now never afraid to check under the hood when somthing seems amiss. Sadly, for the kids of non car guy families, they'll probably never know or even care about these things.

My daughter won't get her hands dirty, but she sure knew how to rag on my valve cover choice!

"Dad, these dont look like what it came with, I like the other kind better".

Nice pic Ian. All boys know how to do is get on their sleds and drive. Don't care how it works or how much they cost to fix just drive and let dad worry about the rest.

Daughter asks:
"Hey Dad, which pedal do I press when red and blue lights flash in this here mirror?"

Dad replies:
"The RIGHT ONE! And be sure to push it hard enough to loose the tail.

And the second you get home, lock it in the garage and don't drive it for at least a week!

And of course, I have a story about that.....

I was early 20's. I had recently put the 427 and TH400 into my 66 Grande Parisienne. Nice shift kit, it laid a good patch into second gear at full throttle.

Morris main street is all of about 10 blocks long. It's highway 75 from Winnipeg to the US border, so gets patrolled well, or did in the early 80's anyway. Cruising Morris one night, turn off main onto a side street, see a car with some kids pulled up by the sidewalk facing traffic the wrong way because they are talking to someone who was walking on the sidewalk. No big deal, it was someone I knew and we always did that, no issues with the RCMP. I went past them to the first stop sign, right turn, go to the next sign, turn right again and pull up to main street. I turn right again so in a block I will be back full circle to the corner I turned off at, where the car was parked. I pull on till I'm straight, and full throttle first and second. Within a second or two of hitting second I am passing the corner where the car was parked. Guess who stopped to talk to them about being parked the wrong way??? YUP, UH-OH!!!! Full throttle the few blocks to home, park the car on the street, get out and run. Not into the house, no way, that is too easy. Around the neigbourhood, hiding in shrubs, behind houses etc while the patrol car is driving up and down the side streets looking for me!!!

What a bonehead move that was...... I never did anything like that again. And I didn't drive my car for about a week or 10 days either.
