trimtag decoding?? is there a list?


just wondering of any one has an option list out there,  after looking over the trim tags of my cars, now I'm curious.

like M38 ?? is that for a T350 tranny?

sorry, first tag in blue is form my 55 chevy 150 2 dr sedan.  the rest are pontiacs fullsize with a couple of Beaumonts thrwon in for good measure.....

That is a great list to have handy, I wish I would have payed more attention and jotted some info down over the years. Like the 69 2+2 that we stripped and crushed . No drive train so you never know or that 68 impala wagon that had disc brakes, posi, no power brakes or steering, makes you wonder what the engine was???? What if??? Now it's gone too....

But now..... I'll arm myself with the list
