Yeah, agreed. Beautiful rare car.

However, tough selling cars in that price range in today's market.

-New to this site and to the world of old pontiacs.

I dont have the time or the ability to build one. I would prefer to find a nice car (like this one, although Im not sure about the torque converter, would probably change that) bring it home and enjoy it with the wife

-Been looking through the posts and came across a car that I am going to look at
I have been looking at this car for a couple weeks and have spoke with the guy twice.

I too think its priced high.

I guess my first question would be directed to someone with good knowledge in this year/model of car.
Based on the information provided in the ad, and knowing the present market, what would be a good price for this car?

Also, is there particular areas to look at that better determine condition?

Thank you in advance for your insight.

Welcome! biggrin    reading over the description, the car seems to have been gone through from front to back  2500 stall is ok  4:10 with 4 speed auto is ok...  Car is worth 30g based on the money spent in restoration..In todays market,  I think its a 25g car  We just found a gorgeous Firebird conv. in Windsor Ont for 25    just my opinion and you asked  lol

I think if he has detailed resto photos it could be worth that too.

Is it just me or does anyone else notice the lack of info on the motor?  I know there is a picture of a V-8 but in this posting it is not possible to enlarge the photo.
IMO, speaking as the owner of a car, for sale, in the same price range.  I believe a buyer looking at a car like this should expect to find a car with all the trim and parts intact that makes it such a rare car.  It should have a high quality paint job on a body that was as close to rust free as possible.  I want all original sheet metal or if there were panels replaced, I want them to be bolt on parts not parts that were fabbed such as quarters or floors.
I would also look to buy a car that is already engineered for my style driving.  If you are only going to show the car locally or be driving less than 50 miles at a time, then pro street, requiring high octane fuel, fuel cell, big tires, etc. etc. are fine.  If you want to cruise the car then you should be able to find a car like this one that has updated brakes, overdrive trans but more of a highway gear.
My point is, in this price range, it is a buyer's market, don't settle for something that isn't exactly what you want to own.  You should not need to spend a bunch of money to find missing trim or rebuild the car to your liking.
I try not to comment on the value of another person's car.  The two features I would not like on this car at this price are the ralley wheels and the 4:10 gear.  At this price, I would like to see more expensive wheels & tires.  Also, the 700r4 is very responsive in first thru third gears which is what I use for normal driving and the O/D or fourth gear is my highway gear.  With a 4:10 gear, you are defeating the purpose of O/D.  Normally if you install an O/D trans, you don't wany to be turning high rpm's at highway speeds.  Of course, this is all relative to the tire size.
Like I said, "In My Opinion".
