Upon arrival at Grant Hamilton's Dealership these special cars were converted into Comanche's by painting tail panel white, white stripes were painted around front fenders air vents, all 400 emblems on either side of 400 hood scoops and corner of rear decklid were replaced with diecast chrome Comanche emblems, 400 hood scoop inserts were chromed , Marchal fog lamps (same as Shelby Mustangs) installed in grills, Koni Shock were installed at all 4 corners of car and hood received chrome hood pins.

Comanches were marketed as High End Luxurious Grand Touring cars.

Production was low possibly 20-30 units hardtop and convertibles combined

Ok, so not to be negative, what's the big deal, they put in some hidious driving lights in the grille, added aftermarket shocks and tires, loaded the option list and stuck on some emblems ? Did I miss anything ?

Was this car recently sold??  What was the price or what is the value of one of these cars?  I have never heard of them before.  I wonder why they didn't use the Ram Air IV, I believe it was available in 69.
I fine this car very very interesting and really like the interior, not so much the exterior add ons.

This car is still owned, as far as I know, by the brother of Richard Johns, who owns Pure Stock Auto Restorations near London.

kinda like the rest of the dealer upgrade stuff of any year at any dealer-its rare !

I recall my friend buying the 70 LS6 Chevelle from Rob Rump @ $34,000 CDN in 1996, right next to it was a blue 69 Yenko Chevelle with a 427 Auto for $60,000-I explained the RPO LS6 was factory installed and therefore real the 69 yes had a 427 installed by a Legendary dealer but wasn't factory-anyway hindsight is a beautiful thing ! friend wanted a 70 anyway.

Fred, I do not know how you find this stuff, but another interesting story of a car I was not aware of. Thanks.

Ray, I have never found the Baldwin cars appealing either. Some of the stuff guys added at the dealerships was not in line with how I thought a clean performance car should look, but boy oh boy, do those dealer cars draw money and attention now.

One that I do like is the Cheetah idea and I'm not saying that just because we have them on this site.
