yep...the owner is kind of an Acadian / chevy II god around here, he is wrecked and forgotten more about these cars than I'll ever know.

I can't remember is he has an auto n now or not , back in the day , he ran it with a 4 spd. used to break the shifter handles off street racing when he 'power shifted' into 3rd and smashed his hand into the dash ..... HIS WORDS , NOT MINE.

it may have been another Acadian he tortured, but I recall the story !!

this rag has been with him for almost 30 years now. very nice car, I should have some pics in my archives that I can dig up.

He's skinnied down his parts collection, lost his storage space , poor health, and when the market for collectibles went flat in the 80's ...he got tired of dealing with cheap skates.

he has a set of the Beaumont flat centers that I had been trying to buy off him, no luck , and now I see I can buy them new, so if need be , that's what I'll do.

Cool. (Reason I asked is that you don't see many of the 63 SD rags, and I had a warranty book for one which was sold out of Edmonton. After having no success finding the matching car, I gave the book to a buddy. If I ever came across the matching car, I would endeavor to get it to the original owner.)

Let me just take a minute to "voice my opinion and let off some steam". wink

I really hate all the shortened terms used for convertibles, almost as much as I hate the fact most people can't spell the word.
I've had my current convertible about nine years and I owned a few others prior to this one. I admit it gets a bit old typing the word convertible ten times in a post but I just can't bring myself to call it anything else.
I will not forget the first time about 7 years ago when texting was just begining to be the rage, a young man emailed me and asked about my vert. I had never heard that phrase before. I said what is a vert. He said you know a convertible. I said who gave you permission to call it a vert? He claimed well everybody calls it that. I said, no they don't, I've been driving for 40 years and never heard the term before. I guess we both thought the other one was crazy.
Lately, all I see is "rag", it's like vert was too long with 4 letters so now we need to get it down to 3 letters. Not to mention the images that come to mind when someone says a "rag". Sorry, I will always take time to type convertible, I just can't bring myself to call something I enjoy so much a "rag".
With that is the realization that it has finally happened, I said I would never be uncool but apparantly now I am. I don't know the symbols to indicate this is just me hoping someone hears me ranting and understands so I will just type it.

I guess paying 30000.00 for a rag doesn't sound very good or, " I own 7 rags". Painting rags? Wash rags? Ragdolls? I guess convertible sounds better. The only thing that bugs me is," LOL". What the hell does that mean?

My "Beau" is also a convertible which I often refer to as a ragtop as that is what I grew up hearing 30 years ago. No disrespect intended. (On the other hand, what really drives me nuts is when people use the term "vent" instead of saying "voice my opinion and let off some steam". wink

)

I believe we have a member on here named "onewheelpeel". That sure looks like it could have been him in the Acadian convertible-convert-vert-ragtop-rag-droptop that did the burnout!

03cts sport, your absolutely right, did you notice at the end of the "opinion", I changed to rant instead of that other word.
I only understand two things, a smilie that really is a smile, smile

and LOL which means
don't take me seriously. Although I'm not sure why they use LOL other than they are next to each other on the keyboard.
Seriously, I'm very familiar with the term "ragtop" and don't mind that as I have heard that all my life.

Sorry for what could have been taken as a smartass response. I've heard my Beaumont convertible called a lot of thngs over the years (including "one of those Beaush#ts" by a fella in Seatlle). As a result of that, the old skin is fairly thick when it comes to the terms.
Any bites with regards to your car for sale?...
