As if he needed more stress, Ray Whites responsibilties at CANADIAN FEED THE CHILDREN are under the gun with the tragedy at HAITI...
Please think of him as this time
Here is a note from him this morning Jan 14-10...
Carl: We are in complete reaction mode here with the earthquake in Haiti. We have staff and an Office right in Port-au-Prince and we have had no contact with them. Our hearts go out to these people, as I know them personally, and our Country Director Gachette is just a wonderful man. Thankfully we just 10 minutes ago got through to our orphanage outside of town and although some damage occurred all 200 children are safe as well as the staff. They are actually providing relief and shelter to the souls who can get there. We are sending in our people from Toronto and we pray for their safety as well.
I am grateful that you have taken care of this for Hillar and your idea is tremendous. Why don't you advise all with a thread and start getting donations towards this tribute. I think that if there is anything over and above what is needed we could either donate to the site or the tremendous need in Haiti. Maybe you could let the guys know why I am predisposed today.
Kind Regards, Ray

On January 12, Haiti experienced a 7.0 earthquake with extensive loss of life and destruction in the Port-au-Prince area. We have been unable to ascertain the extent of the impact on the families and partners we support, as the telephone networks are down and communication is difficult. Canadian Feed The Children will be offering urgent assistance as the needs become clear.
I will be thinking of you Ray. We also have a family member over there. My wife's first cousin he had landed 2 hour before the earth quake. We got news yesterday the he is alright. He also does charity work over there. Here is a link to his ministry. http://www.kootenaychristianfellowship.com/

Thank you so much Carl and Vern. Carl setting up that link is so kind of you, so much appreciated!
Well it is 5:49 EST and we have a glimmer of good news. One of our staff started calling the Brooklyn New York phone book, knowing that our Country Director had a sister living there. It has taken most of the day but we have reached his Aunt, who then in turn gave us a number to call of his Uncle who had heard from a friend that our man is Okay as is his family. Not the stuff to go to press with but we are happy to have this news.
Thanks for all your support fellas. I was at the arena tonight and some handed me $60 for the cause. I can't tell you how it feels to be trusted like this to do the right things and I assure you we will make the best use of all funds donated.
We have been working in Haiti for 10 years and we were just feeling that we had made good progress in so many areas. The Government of Canada through CIDA recently entrusted us with $500,000 for an agriculture project. Now everythng is on hold while we assess this tragedy and provide immediate aid.
I will be praying for you Ray and your organization. I will send a donation tomorrow as well. Take care and Thanks for what you are doing and making our world better !
Will be praying for you Ray during this difficult time in so many ways. Will also be sending a donation for Haiti and have noticed that the government is matching donations dollar for dollar for many organizations.
My heartfelt thanks again fellas, this link to CIDA explains the matching. The deadline for proposals is end of business today. We feel strongly that since we are well established and respected by CIDA that we will recieve positive confirmation to our aid proposal. Just to be clear, there is a matching to $50,000,000 BUT the government gets to choose which organizations based on their submissions.
