That's very impressive! I was wondering about all those batteries, but his change over to the lithiums makes it a lot better considering how much space was taken up before.

Love the Datson 510, gas or electric. I'm sure all the toxic stuff in a lithium battery great for the evironment! Yeh right!! Very cool as a electric but the carbon inprint of electric cars charged by coal fired generators desn't sound green to me.

I remember a comparison on the cost of making one pass on that exact drag bike you see in the video, compared to a gas pro bike.
I think it was 14 cents for the electric charge vs $4.50 for the gas bike.

This wasn't the original idea of the electric Willys project I'm working on but hey, this could be fun.  I'll be running lead acid instead of lithium at least for the first go round so I don't think it'll be this quick but it should be pretty lively at least.

As for power, most of the electricity in Alberta is generated by coal (not to mention that fact i drive other gas machines) so I'm not fooling myself that I'm especially clean or green but there is potential in future to get into some solar panels so i could at least say I'm self suffencient for this machine.

This is very motivating in more ways than one.

Hopefully in a couple of weeks I can post some real progress on the electric Willys thread. Right now its at the boring frame cleaning stage.

It would be neat to convert a 6 banger 63 Acadian to electric. It would be relatively easy. The trunk would hold a lot of batteries!

I've thought how much of a sleeper my 63 Acadian 4dr would be with a turbo V6 out of a Grand national. But with having all originall drive train can't bring myself to do it.

I agree with Tony on the subject of electric cars. I love the sound of a mellow rumble. With electric cars there just ain't a "Heartbeat of America" resonating from the exhaust system. I like to feel and hear what I'm driving. If I wanted something electric, I'd buy a forklift truck or a vacuum cleaner with a seat on it! No matter how ya look at it, they both suck!

I like the V8 sounds too, but it would be cool to have a car that left that quick

What i'm planning to do is to record my 396 in the 66 GP in different modes, like idling, revving, blipping and save these to the ipod I'll have on board.  Then when I need it I'll play it back through an outside speaker to scare the snot out of punks and old ladies.  Its a safety feature.

Waddya think?  Seems legit to me.
