What part of the country are you at? I've got mine in getting done now as a Christmas gift from the family by a guy by the name of Larry Wood in Vancouver. He also does the custom dual speakers for around 200. The radio will be around 500. My next door neighbour had his done a couple months ago with the speaker but he hasn't installed it yet so I haven't heard it but Larry been around for quite awhile doing this.

Sorry I hit the post twice. Igot the price from Larry also and I was not sure if it was a good/or bad deal. I am from Salmon Arm. BC and I think I will do it.

If you are ever at some of the BC car shows he is quite often there. He is the fellow in the wheel chair and is usually quite visible making his way around. Everything I've heard has been positive and his turnaround is around 3 to 4 weeks. I've heard of a couple of horror stories where the place had the radio for months and it never did get done and they were worried whether they'd even get their right radio back.  To me those sound like a fair price.  Just my opinion.

I still think it would be nice to have old looks but new sound without demolishing the dash.

My thoughts too. He claims you need really good speakers as it will really put out.

I didn't yet but I probably will do the same as what you suggested with the dual speaker in place of the single. I talked to him before I came down here to Phoenix because I thought maybe I could find something here but he told me to be careful what I bought because alot of them won't handle his system and he asked for a shot at supplying so I will probably go that route.

I got my 65 beaumont radio done last year by a guy in the states.. it took about 2 months to get it back.. but I wasnt in a hurry either. I still havent hooked it up, but the cost, after exchange, was in the 500.00 mark. the radio looks just as stock as ever, but has the input/outputs on it.

The final price I got was $1000 for the whole system. I thought the speakers were high but the radio price was good.

So Kelly have you planned what you are going to do as far as speakers?  I was hoping to keep whatever I do pretty well hidden.

My big Pontiac, has the "upgraded" radio delete cover on it...

I am not a audio fan, so I would not spend 10 cents on a radio...

I would perhaps put a clean face working or not, original in, to fill hole  lol

My "little Pontiac came from e-bay in Oregon, with a Blaupunkt CD/radio and actually sounds real good..  Someone pointed out, it has JL speakers in it, like the Unique Whips JL equipment...   so it stays, cause it was there  lol
