SD or not SD that is the question

Here is all I have on a 1967 Beaumont that has been parked since the 80's and has all the SD stuff. It has a 327 double bump head engine (original ??).

VIN: 7361771100774

A51 D99 M35

This is some great info :)
I am in the process of buying the car but i will be reselling it. It also has MINT black center console with tic toc tach, th400 (not original ??), 10 bolt rear. It has the correct trim around the trunk lock, bulge hood, sport wheel, white buckets, and near perfect grill. The trunk pan and right rear quarter have rust, otherwise looks good, even arounfd the back window. Car is partially dissassembled and located in the Okanagan area of BC.

I know it's been said here before? but in 67 , the SD option DID not mean BBC ,, is that correct?

I am guessing but I think I am pretty safe saying the powerglide likely outnumbered the Turbo 400 about 10 to 1 in 67 SD396 cars.

Correct. There used to be a 67 SD 283 2 barrel single exhaust factory 4 speed car  here in my home town.

Yes, once they did the changeover to the 738 cars. Before that, the Custom with the A51 Sports Option (Sport Deluxe) could be had from 283 up.

thanks Carl, that is what you were getting at on the other thread, and that car was a 6 cyl.

so, the car the top of this , because of the eraly build date is an SD ( A51 ) , but the engine is anybodys guess with out doing the docs.

correct??

Yes, from what I know the pre 738 cars could be a 283, 327 or 396. And I don't think the engine option code appeared on the cowl tags, early or late so you are right about needing the documents to prove the engine.

The SS/SD396 hood would have been an add-on as well, it would not have come with the car. Interesting car, it would be best to order the docs right away, then you will know the options and can also determine if the engine is original to the car... I suspect white interior would be very unusual as well... the tach is a chevy item, and no deluxe steering wheel option on that car...(imo)

Fred, have you noticed that there seems to be 6 cyl cars with A51 sport option only at the very start of production?

Do you think they dropped the 6 from the lineup early on?

Going on the interior color list I think this Beaumont has the Fawn interior color.

Maybe not though, that list indicates the Fawn color was only available with a bench seat.

Sorry, I'm to blame for sidetracking this thread. Do you have more info on the car?

Overall condtion, pictures, powertrain info, interior etc?

This car was partially disassembled in the late 80's. Interior, engine/trans, fenders, hood, trunk, removed. Body removed from frame but now resting back on. No restoration started yet. Engine torn apart. I did not get any date or suffix codes off the engine yet, just that it is a 1962-67 327 from the casting #. The rear is a ten bolt and the trans is not original as it is a TH400, but i do have a period correct 2spdPG that I will put with the car. The interior needs upholstery due to age but the console and all other parts look to be in very nice condition. All glass, trim and chrome looks good. Only apparent rust issues are the trunk floor, passenger rear quarter behind wheel, and a little up the front side kick panels. Someone did cut out the rear defrost/speaker panel so it will need a replacement. So all in, this car will need basically a complete restoration but all the right stuff seems to be there and decent. The next best thing would be if the engine is VIN correct. As soon as i have more info and pics i will post them. Like i said, this is a car I will be selling, not keeping, and I am thinking the buyer will be happy as it sounds like this SD has good value and worth a restoration.
Cheers, Ryan :)

If it is totally in pieces it could be a tougher sell.

Also, the rest of numbers off the cowl tag will tell the story for sure but it sure sounds like an SD.

The codes off the block will certainly help too. Personally I'd say a numbers match 327 SD would have some value, yes.

Easier to say for sure once you can show what it looks like alright.

The frame/suspension was not torn apart and the glass, trim, and doors are still on the body. I could make it look like a car again in a few hours but either way it will have to be apart to restore. Thanks for all your input.
Cheers, Ryan :)

I'm sure you know this but from experience I'd say the more assembled it looks, the easier it is to sell.
