Bucket Seats

I am wondering about my options for recovering a set of bucket seats for my '66 SD?  When I purchased the car it came without the front seats.  I have found a set out of a 67 that are in decent shape and just need to be recovered.  Any input would be much appreciated.

they'll be fine-just that they have the seat back locks and 66 doesn't, nice seat covers are reproduced by a number of companies for a 66

Are you planning on doing the upholstery work yourself and just need seat covers and padding or are you looking for a reputable shop to do quality work for you

Where are you located? Maybe a member can suggest someone in you area.

Are there aftermarket covers available for acadian specific?  The foam looks to be in good shape and if I can get away with an aftermarket cover and do the work myself, that should save me a few bucks.  The rear seat has the original upholstery and I was hoping to match it as best as I can.  I'm in Victoria so if anyone knows of a shop around here that may do that sort of work, let me know.

Also, 67BBSD mentioned that the 67 seats have the locks (thanks for the reply).  Is that the only difference?

Thanks for the help.

It seems to me that I used a 67 seat back on a 66 I worked on years ago when I installed a recliner. I think I just deleted the latching stuff from the seat. That is early 80's though, so my memory could be a bit foggy!

I think the 67 has plastic backs, 66 metal backs?

Did you get the seat tracks with the seats?

The upholstery should be the same as Nova SS.

yes, just remove the hardware and replace the backs if you want to eliminate the lock buttons-I've seen metal on 67's also

I was thinking covers for a beaumont/chevelle originally thinking this was an 'A' body  but I agree Nova SS would be the same as Acadian SD

There's a place in Victoria called Penninsula Restoration and I think the guy's name is Ron. He handles most of the big suppliers and seemed like a real nice guy. I tryed an order with him once but some of the stuff was on back order so I had to go elswhere but his prices seemed fair.

66 SD ( chrome metal insert about 3-4 inches in the upper seat section, front seats and back seats) seat covers are different on a 67 SD (white stripe down the middle and different grain/pattern upholstery) as well as the side button for fold down. Seat backs on a 66 are metal.

The chrome inserts for the 1966 seats are reproduced if you need them, 4 required. I had good luck with Classic Industries for seat covers, just don't get them shipped UPS or Fedex, use U.S. Postal service, you won't get dinged for Brokerage fees, maybe just gst/provincial taxes.
