There used to be a Canadian Tri-Chevy Cowl Tag Info site which seems to have gone down. Insofar as it related to engine numbers, obviously it shared info with Canadian Pontiacs. I had an approach from an owner of a '57 Bel Air 2 Dr HT, and tag details are:
All I can say is that it's what it says on the tin, and that i's a '57 235 with Powergliude because of the 9 prefix. I have no idea about Canadian BSO, Paint and Trim option decodes.

my 57 belair 2dht is adobe beige with a white top with a 283 power pack witch is just a four barrel , my car has one fire wall tag and the car is from california , i also have a 57 210 model its a 2dht and a 283 2 barrel and a canadian car but it has two fire wall tags i was told it was a canadian car because of the two fire wall tags
