B-4008 thats pretty cool that they were made that close! Is it true there were no 375hp 396's that came out of Oshawa? I wonder if they made a run of chevelles and then a run of Beaumonts or just whatever came down the line?

I think its a 69 Post Chevelle, being it was built in Nov of 68. I dont think there was a 68 post with a big block.

68 SD.jpg68 SD passenger side.jpgI have a copy of the documentation for a 69 Chevelle, 2 dr post, 396-375 hrs, M22, 4:10, with chambered exhaust, black on black, bench seat. I have seen this car and up until about 4 years ago was still sitting in a garage where it had been for many years. It definately needs restoration however it was in decent shape and was sold in Ontario. I thought I had the copy of the documentation with the ones for my cars however it must be in another folder. It did say it was one of fifteen. Also I expect they made more that 10 427 COPO Chevelles in 69 as the dealership I bought mine from, B & A Chevrolet in Toronto, had five that year and I had a choice of one of three in Sept. 69. A friend of mine bought one from the dealership in London and I saw one in Kitchener in about 1972. That is already 7 so there were likely a few more dealerships that had one although you never know. B & A also sold at least one COPO Biscayne L72, in 1968, which they advertised in Wheelspin at that time. This car is close to where I live however it is very, very rough and will take at least $50,000 to restore it properly. I do have my original bill of sale for the COPO however I do not have GM documentation as I do not have the car at the present time. To keep this writing in the proper forum I also have a 68 SD which I haven't driven for years. Doug.

Yes. I used 68 427 emblems at the time and they fit perfectly. My local dealership didn't believe it was a 427 so I contacted B & A and GM sent me, which I still have, the Broadcast Copy that followed the car throughout the plant and the shipping copy that came with the transport truck, of which I have both, including the envelope, not that it means anything without the car. I have a line on the car and may end up with it some day.

Yes, it appears, according to my documentation, to have come originally from Essex Auto Sales Ltd., Essex, however the car was a local car, ie the original woman owner was from a small town outside of Brantford, Burford, Ontario.  I haven't looked at the protecto plate lately however I suspect the car was a dealer trade.  I knew the second owner from Burford and she had told me the car was ordered with air and it didn't have it.  Her story was that it was too late in the year to reorder so they/she took the car they could get.  As it is it has cruise control, fibre optics, wood grain dash, power windows, am/fm, rear defroster, tinted glass, red lines. disc brakes, rally wheels, buckets, console, tachometre, ps, 396-350 hrs, vinyl roof, rear speaker and unfortunatley a turbo 400, not a 4 spd.  It looks exactly the same today as it did in those pictures I posted even though they are really old and taken with a cheap camera.  I'll have it painted back to the original colour in the spring and put my red lines back on it or I'll buy a set of reproduction red lines in a larger size.

I have a friend who had a black 69 Camaro, black interior that he bought about 1984. He bought it in Kenora, Ontario. It had an LT1 4 speed in it, 4.10 posi for the diff I believe. He drove it that way for a few years and changed it to a 427. Had it for a while, got married, moved to Winnipeg and had no place for proper storage so decided to sell it.

Before he put it up for sale, he decided to document it. The rumour was that the car was an original 396/375 aluminum head car.

Low and behold, it comes back a 427 COPO car. He sold it anyway, knowing this. I think it went to Edmonton where it got restored as a COPO I think. Then I believe it went back to Ontario, (to RM, I think?) and then sold to the US I believe. Anyone remember this car at RM, likely in the early/mid 90's?
