Thanks for the inspiration. I checked my car seat tonight and found my factory options tag on my '64! No posi track on mine Interesting to see the option numbers though. Most are similar except mine has additional codes. N33 And P01 Anyone know what these might be? One of them must be the tilt steering which my car has.
BTW,.. I followed your lead and blocked out the last eight digits which I assume are the key codes,....?. Not that anyone would have keys made and fly half way across Canada to swipe a 4 door model needing restoration LOL!

Did you check under the rear seat for the options tag? (similar to those posted in this thread) If you had the 250 HP 327,... it will be indicated with "L30" or "L74" was the 300 HP version. I checked my factory '64 series 7000 Pontiac shop manual ,... and the one obvious external distinction for the 300 HP engine is 2 1/2" exhaust. (as confirmed by one other CP member). That would give you confirmation on the HP version. The only other difference was that the carter AFB 4BBL was only offered on the L74 300 HP version.
If you're lucky and it is the L74,... finding a factory intake is not that tough. I've seen a few go through ebay in the past year. Anywhere from $75.00-$150.00. An original carter AFB is a little pricier. They also go up quite regular on ebay for about $400.00-$500.00.

Randy, I think you've answered the riddle. I could never figure out why this car had the double-hump heads yet only had a 2 bbl and single exhaust. Now I think I know. And this is the first time I've had any official verification at all that some 283's came with 327 double-hump heads. And I was able to get the engine code off the right side block deck last night. It's V299349. I'm going to see if I can find out exactly what the specs are on this sort of "hybrid " engine. It sounds like some sort of "hypo" 283 that maybe came in some Pontiacs. I've never heard of any hypo 283's except back in the 50's and some early 60's (pre-'62) Corvettes. If you can be of any help with that engine code I'd sure appreciate it. I'm sure Ray (68SD) will know..
