If you are not aware of it, you should be - Eckler's in Florida
http://www.lategreatchevy.com/
is a great resource for your car (since it is a Chevy under the skin)
They will sell either 8" or 10" wheels to you BUT:

American Racing Torq-Thrust II Wheel, 15" x 10"
Requires Body Or Rear End Modification

American Racing Torq-Thrust II Wheel, 15" x 8"
Fits With No Body Mods Required

Unless you want to cut your fender opening (which would be truly ugly on your car imho) or narrow your rear axle (and probably also need to install larger wheel tubs) - 8" is the maximum, sorry no 10"

Remember in the 60's cars were built for narrow wheels so they did not engineer such large clearances.

I have a similar problem with my 1956 - I would love 10" but until I decide to do major surgery I can't use them.

Tri-Five Chevy's have an Excel Worksheet which allows one to experiment with different wheel/tire sizes, and checks clearance all around (fender, frame, etc.) but I can't find the same for your car.

Your L60- 15's would be like 275/60 - 15's today.

This is a chart for converting old alphanumeric sizes to modern P-Metric

here's what I have on my 64,  vintage Super ET's  rears are 15 x 8 1/2 with 3 1/2" back spacing.  running a 275/60/15. they tuck in with no worries except  I use 2 jacks to change tires.

Buncha big tire lovers here! smile.gif

I had L60-15's on my 66 Chevelle on 8" Corvette rally wheels and they just barely fit, had to cut away the inner fender lip a wee bit (but the stainless trim around the wheel opening did not have to be cut).

Good info from Dan and others - here are section widths and overall heights:

L60-15 - 10.2" wide, 27.9" tall

275/60-15 - 10.8" wide, 28.0" tall

for comparison:
255/60-15 - 10.4" wide, 27.5" tall

Don't remember where I got all my data but I did try to research it pretty thoroughly.
