I just amazed at how smart kids can be. I have my grandchildren trained for such problems as I have had heart problems in the past. They know to phone 911 and unlock the door. Even when I take them to the park I ask them what they should do in case papa has a problem. They are smart. ( and you have to watch what you say around them LoL)

When a police officer responded to a 911 call, he found Gary Rosheisen on the floor near his bed, having fallen out of his wheelchair, and his cat Tommy sitting by the phone. Police said they received a 911 call from Rosheisen's apartment, but there was no one on the phone so they decided to check things out. Rosheisen said he couldn't get up because of his painful osteoporosis and ministrokes that affect his balance. He also couldn't reach a cord above his pillow that alerts paramedics that he needs help. He said Tommy must have hit the right buttons to call 911. Tommy has lived with him for three years. He tried to train him to call 911, unsure if the cat actually got it. The phone in the living room is always on the floor, and there are 12 small buttons, with a speed dial for 911 right above the button for the speaker phone. "He's my hero," Rosheisen said.

I must say that call will get anyone emotional ,and to hear how that little girl handled that situation is just amazing. I have the privilage of talking to kids about safety and what they should do when the time arises. I am a firefighter and we have a great number of groups come to the hall such as schools/cubscouts/beavers/ daycare. The kids really amaze you with there knowledge and how to use it. When we give a tour we always stress 911, there address and the importance of getting out if its a fire situation and how to do it properly. We will also tell them who to ask for ,Police ,Ambulance,Fire and why. When we talk to them you have to make them fell comfortable and you cant give them 20 points to remember. At the end of a tour we feel good if they can take home a few things we said and thats better than none .
