Sad day at the Olympics

It was troubling to hear about luge athlete Nodar Kumaritashvili dying on his first run today. It was also disturbing to see it shown several times on TV tonight at 7pm when my son is watching TV. Why is it cartoons like Bugs Bunny are censored however we get to see these images so early? There wasn't even a warning that the images would be disturbing. It bothered all of us to witness it.

Seen it a few times already but here they did give warning. They should at least mute the should when he hits the beam.

I seen it at work today, what a terrible thing to have happen on opening day. My condolences go out to the team and family of this Possible gold metal athelete.  May He rest in peace.

To see it on TV was absolutely horrifying. I doubt the family is very happy with the world replaying it over and over again. I have no idea why they need to keep showing it.

RIP

We had the story break yesterday afternoon. I don't know how many stations ran the footage. In our newsroom CTV News had it on but soon switched to footage which didn't show the accident. It was no where to be found on Youtube later in the day, and as far as i know it's still that way. I did see the footage and it is horrendous. It shouldn't be shown at all. Just hearing about a guy on a luge crashing at 140km...i knew.
Very sad indeed, let's hope now for a safe Olympics and condolences to the Georgian team.

My condolences to his family and country. I agree they should give a gold metal to his family. I have watched the luge many times and I figured someone was going to get seriously hurt at some point. So fast with so little protection.

We were watching "OLN" (Outdoor Life Network) and CTV had cut in with Olympic coverage. They showed the whole incident without any warning. Same thing happened on CTV Newsnet..

I saw it on CTV and Tom Clarke made an emphatic warning prior to the report.

The luge is known as the 50/50.
