Well all the girls in our house went to bed here in the East but my son and I watched. When they finished I looked at him and said "This probably sounds silly coming from me but all I can say is, That was beautiful." he looked at me and said "Dad, that's the only word for it."
What great kids, proud to be Canadian, that brought a tear to my eye.

I wish I could say Shannon Rempel was in the list. Her parents are both Morris natives but sadly she has been very disappointed with her results there.
Would have been fun to have a Morris girl in the spotlight.
And then to top it off, we have a "traitor" from Morris at the Olympics! The Swiss men's curling coach, Lorne Hamblin is a customer of mine until he retired from farming a year ago!

To me this is the best aspect of our Olympic athletes, they are literally the boy and girl next door, ordinary Canadians accomplishing extraordinary feats! This makes us feel as if we know each and everyone of them, because we might, it gives us all a sense of pride. I am even proud of those who coach athletes of other nations, what greater testament to our skill and credibility.
I think that these Olympic games will be remembered as a turning point in Canadian Nationalism and Pride. We have never witnessed such a public display of patriotism. I also hope that they serve as a unifying force among Canadians from coast to coast. Seventy percent of Canadians surveyed say they believe these games are Canada's games as opossed to Vancouver's. This is a huge result, I know for one I am very proud of what has been accomplished and very proud of Vancouver and British Columbia!
In a show of total dominance, Humphries and Moyse captured the gold with a combined time of 3:32:28 Upperton, of Calgary, and Shelley-Ann Brown, of Pickering, Ont. moved up from fourth place after two heats to capture silver in a time of 3:33.13.
PEI born David MacEachern won PEI's only other olympic gold medal for 2 Man Bobsleigh in 1998!
One thing I've found out by moving here is Islanders are a very, very proud bunch!
