I will just be here for a couple of minutes but I see no post yet about our members in Chile?

The pictures on CNN are looking pretty brutal. Isn't 8.8 a lot worse than the Haitian earthquake?

It seems that Chile is having communication problems after the earthquake and the phone lines aren't working well...
Let's hope that they are ok...

You refer to the earthquake in Chile as being an 8.8
I'll try and explain how this works. It's an exponential scale. That means that a 5 is 10x more powerful than a 4. An 8 is 10x more powerful than a 7. And so it goes.
What this means is that 8.8 is reaalllyyy big.

Hi friends in Canada, I am writing here from Santiago the intensity earthquake measuring 8.0 degrees, the epicenter was south area and 8.8 degrees, ranging about 800 victims so far and unfortunately many more are expected, I communicated with Several members of acadianbeaumont.cl and all are well very scared but in good condition themselves and their families.
spite of the fright and the terrible tsunami followed the earthquake our country has a long history of seismic activity counting on the famous largest earthquake in the world with 9.5 in 1960 so we will move forward as many times we have.
thank you very much for concern so far, greetings from chile ...

he is well , it is currently doing well in northern Chile where the earthquake will come only with an intensity of 2 degrees, major problems are to the south where the epicenter was , greetings ...
