Well said. There's a reason I watch very little NHL hockey.

Sportsmanship? What game were you watching? Ryan Kesler goes on national TV and trash talks Robeto Luongo who has more class and sportsmanship in one finger than the self centre ego manic American. Kesler then proceeds to hack and slash every Canadian he sees in the third period even after the whistler goes. Everyone knows the US are stick men, from the time they are 8 that's all they do, stick you. I guess none saw the slew foot Bobby Ryan threw on Dan Boyle, well at  least the referee did. A slew foot is one of the most dspicable chicken cheap shots any body can ever throw.

First time I ever heard that line I was about 14 or 15 years old - about 1960.

While watching a local ( Timmins ) TV station suppertime sports news they were doing an interview with one of the Timmins players to promote that evenings Senior A game between Kapuskasing and Timmins.

A rookie report had been assigned the task of doing the interview. When he asked the player what he thought the outcome might be the answer he got was " win or lose, hit the booze ". The reporter was speachless.

The player being interviewed - Father Les Costello. He had as a young man played for the Toronto Maple Leafs but left pro hockey to become a Catholic priest. He was well know for this type of comment and his down to earth approach to his ministry.
His sense of humour served him and his church very well.
