My dad went into the hospital yesterday.  He was out shopping when he wasn't feeling well.  Turns out he's had a stroke.  Good thing he was out as he lives by himself.  He's 77 and hasn't had many health problems thus far.  Just talked to a doctor and he does have movement on his right side.  Slurred speech still.  I haven't had a chance to see him yet, plan on going tomorrow before work.

God Bless your Dad Randy, we have a friend who had a severe stroke at work, he's 65, last spring. He has come along great. Just got back from a vacation down south. Prayers, support and love.

Well, might as well add to this. My wife whispered in my ear, not a minute before I saw this post, ( whispered so the kids won't hear just yet) that my sister in law went in yesterday to check on her blurred vision and was told she'd had a stroke.... When it rains, it pours.

Randy, it feels pretty helpless from here, I have to say. But I will say this in spite of the recent controversy here. I will be praying for your dad and your family. I wish you guys all the best working through this.

Carl, i'm sorry to hear about your sister in law, wishing all the best from my end.

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers everyone. I visited my dad today. He's in pretty good spirits. He's able to move his right side, using his right hand a bit to hold utensils. They had him try to write his name, couldn't but did print a few words at least. Can't stand up but really doing pretty well. A bit of speech problem but it could have been worse. I still don't know what the cause was but at least i met the hospital social worker who will keep me informed. Going back Saturday with wife and grandson, that will cheer him up.
Not a great week, three people family knows have died and while at the hospital i stopped to chat with a guy who is in. Younger than me and he has a pace maker, thinks he may need a battery replacement.

When it rains it pours indeed!
