You guys have seen me as someone who is pretty conservative with my language but this is pure *******
They had best apologize in person to every one of our customers and all the other closed dealerships customers if they do this in Canada. We had many many customers call and write begging them to reconsider their decision to close dealerships rather than firing some of their incompetent stuffed shirt....................., nah, I won't even get started on this rant!

General Motors Co. will reinstate more than half the dealerships it targeted to drop from its network.
GM executives said Friday that about 600 dealerships out of the 1,100 seeking to stay with GM will receive letters giving them the option to remain with the automaker.
During its restructuring last year, GM told 2,000 dealerships it would revoke their franchises by October 2010.(Paul Sancya/Associated Press)
In Canada, GM had said it intends to eliminate more than one-third of its Canadian dealerships by October 2010 in an attempt to cut costs and streamline its business. It was not immediately known if those plans would change after the U.S. announcement Friday.
The company had more than 700 dealerships in Canada before the closures that were estimated to employ 33,000 people.
GM last year told 2,000 U.S. dealerships it would revoke their franchise agreements in October 2010 as part of its restructuring.
The company has said it needs to shrink the number of showrooms to keep the remaining ones healthy.
The dealers, who say they have been treated unfairly, have been appealing the decision.
The cuts to GM's 6,000-dealer network were designed to compensate for much lower demand for cars and trucks, but some dealers have argued that lots that are still profitable are at risk, and that the automaker hasn't offered enough details about how it's choosing which businesses to shutter.
It is a total slap in the face to one of the older family run dealerships in Canada that has been profitable with GM all those years. We've won their Triple Crown for service excellence. We've NEVER been audited for suspicion of warranty discrepancies as have many dealers.
There was a time about 20 years ago that GM Parts made a mistake on parts that I returned. I returned a speaker and recieved over $1400 extra credit because they made a part number mixup and credited me for a partial engine. I sent copies of documentation and talked to a pile of people, practically begging them to listen to me and look at the mistake I was trying to point out. They were such an arrogant bunch that nobody there would admit they made a mistake. In the final end we kept the money because we couldn't give it back.
I could go on and on. But to do this to customers who begged them to change their mind is going to hurt their image as far as I'm concerned.

The entire Bailout was contrived by GM and others. They saw an opportunity to get free money, layoff thousands of higher paid long service employees and they did it. Nice restructuring with the government's blessing. This is no surprise to me.
Does Gm really know what they are doing? This will probably hurt consumer confidence as people will be wondering what's next. Bringing back the Pontiacs would have been a wiser decision!
I own a ford, olds, poncho, chev. No problems as of yet. I can't see why they target profitable shops, in the name of saving money?? Sad, but if nobody buys new g.m products, the import market will keep getting stronger. Buy American I say. My wife is finally listening to me, as her altima is on it's way out, and I refuse to spend my $$$$ on an import to replace it. G.M or a Ford is going to replace that ******* that is in my driveway.

You summed that up perfectly. Who wants to buy from a company that changes direction every month?
First, no signs of remorse what so ever when they cut the guys, and now "oh, would you like to be a GM dealer again?"
