Very nice job ! How long did it take you to strip the wagon down to this point ? You must have taken alot of pics to be able to put everything back together, I take it is not going to be easy. I noticed the reinforcing braces under the floors, does the fuel tank sits in the pocket in the trunk floor ?
fuel tank sits in the fender space behind the drivers side rear tire. Spare tire sits in the fender space behind the passenger side rear tire. Bottom of spare tire well looks a little rusty.
i think it took around a week but not sure i stripped it last fall,as far as putting it back together shouldn't be to hard been repairing cars a long time (body man), and i have another for parts and reference. the gas tank mounts vertically in the right quarter behind the rear wheel.
no it's not a little rusty! it's alot gone. any ideas as to were i can find a good one? with the many different contours it's going to be very hard to reproduce.
I parted out a 70 Safari Estate wagon last summer (mainly got the 454 and turbo 400). Its spare tire well was non-existant as well. If Hillar was here he could attest to it as he was tinkering in that area to get the rear speaker. I think he dropped a screwdriver or something into the well and it went straight to the shop floor.
