Last fall, volleyball, now we're trying for basketball...

One more time for me to bust all my buttons!

Our son is away playing basketball at the provincial playdowns. They are in the final tomorrow afternoon. I just can't drive 3 1/2 hours one way to watch an hour of basketball. The suspense is going to kill me sitting here at home though. Unlike volleyball, no online updated scorescry Although they won the provincial volleyball, I have reservations about this time around. The team they will likely play scored 126 points against the opposition this afternoon. Their centre is 6'5"!!! Tough for us to compete with that.

Anyway, even if they don't do it, they are guaranteed second in the province and that is what they were ranked as they entered this competition.

Fun, wish I could have missed work today to be thereno

That's good to hear Carl. I would give it a little more thought though. You don't know if your kids will ever get another chance to play for a provincial title and even if they do each time is a special occasion. I've done it more times than I can remember not just for provincial titles but just for tournament finals and thoroughly enjoyed them. I can also remember my kid's reaction to me when I get there and sometimes I'd be the only parent there. I love driving and lots of times my wife and I would just enjoy it as a nice outing with a special meal and maybe a hotel room depending what time the game was. I think it can create a special bond with your kids because it still comes up now and again with us and we have a good chuckle about it. You've heard me say it before but man time flies when it comes to these kids. I say enjoy every moment with them you can.

I would love to Jerel but............

My wife is there, so at least we have some representation.

And, I hate to say it but remember the pictures of our yard last spring? Looks like a repeat is headed this way. I have close to if not a full days work tomorrow to prepare I'm afraid. The alternative is work all day Sunday and I prefer not to set that example with our family.

But believe me, tomorrow at 5:30 I will be sitting here on pins and needles waiting for score updates via cell phone!

They really are outclassed though. The team they will play just whipped their opposition again, this time 113 to 73.

You're right.  Never know when it comes to a one game showdown.   I read this morning, I think it was Japan that beat our Canadian sledge hockey guys, the Japan coach said that if they played us a 1000 games they would probably loose 999 of them but they won the one to give them a chance at gold.  Well, Carl 1, I hope you don't have to go through that again.  I saw footage the other night of the start already south of you and they looked like they were preparing for the worst.  I didn't realize there had been that much snow in that area.  I thought there was a lot less snow right across the country.  Good luck and I'm sure you'll keep us posted.

Our snow is almost completely gone and the rivers are nowhere near flood stage. However, I've been there, done that and when I look at the charts from 175 miles south of here, I know what I see.....

It shouldn't be as bad as last year unless the weather changes.

Our boys couldn't quite do it. 6 points down at the 1/2, final was 89-70. Excellent game apparently. I guess we shouldn't hang our heads. Our little school has the 2nd best A basketball team in Manitoba. Not bad!
