Bonjour tout le monde!

Hi,

I'm new here; I live in Belgium, french talking, 54 years old, 3 children, only 1 wife, generalist and above all young owner of a 57 Laurentian 4 door sedan since december 09. I'm very glad to find passionnated people, I feel less solitary and less crazy to get a car across Canada and Atlantic just for fun.
The car is running now after pumping all the **** of the carb and the tank. But some problems remain at all levels and I'm looking for manuals or sites for canadian Pontiac. The engine is a six cyl 261 ic with automatic transmssion.
The car is the same that I knew during my youth and I'm looking for it since many years.
I own a 1970 Tempest too, but my priority is the Laurentian.
Belgian regards.

Pierre

Bonjour and bienvenue. It's good to see a Canadian Pontiac in Belgium. You need to get a CP window sticker from Todd and a T-shirt to show off to the locals.

Many thanks!

I think before to get started, the most important is to understand the plan of the engine and I'm looking for manuals for canadian 57. First problems are with ignition, spark advance, a leak in exhaust collector and admission, find the kind of ignition wire to change, set the carb which is not genuine( it seems to be a chevy 61 with automatic choke and the car is with manual choke-is it important to find the genuine part?)

After the mechanic side, I'll have to take care of the  fairing and the braking system...

Regards,

Welcome to the site. You definately will need a 57 Canadian Pontiac maintance manual. The automatic choke is correct for the 57 261. From 55 up all the Can. Pon 261 engine were automatic chokes.

bumper.jpgchromeplatted parts.jpggrey color.jpgwindlace.jpgroofliner hole.jpgThanks for the answer. I'm disappointed when I think of some parts of the car: windlace in a pitiful state, condition of the chrome-platted parts, old dry watertight joint on the rearwindow, roofliner painted in blue color with a large hole around the rear-view mirror, scratch in the rear seat skai, large hole in the front seat cloth, hole in the trunk due to the old rearwindow joint... I'm afraid that these things will poison the repairs...Here are some pictures of that if they go through in good condition..
