carburetor

Looking for a new or rebuilt carb for my 61 pontiac 6 cylinder. It is a CarterAS and the tag # is 3114S. If I can't find one will ship it to Toronto for stock rebuld, Thanks Brent

I do not think you have the original carb on your 261. I know the earlier original carbs were a Rochester BC. The 235's came with the Carter which has a smaller cfm. If someone on here has a parts book they can check the original carb number. Many mechanics in the older days just used the Carter carbs as they were more easily available and switched out the original Rochester when there were carburetor problems.  I know from experience you can feel the difference in power on a 261 between the two carbs. The only advantage is slightly better fuel economy with a Carter.

Did you check with the carb rebuilder in Toronto to see if he had one? They have a mountain of carb`s when I was there.

No they didn't even have a core, told me to ship it up and they would rebuild it for 190.00
