To my amazement ...

... the intake & exhaust manifolds came off easily - I was expecting rusted-tight bolts, a mighty struggle, some breakage - but no, just turn the wrench and off they came smile.gif

And I didn't even drop the manifolds on my foot, or a fender biggrin

And the head pipe bolts came off easily too nod.gif

Looks like H2O on the rockers, though - not unexpected, there is clearly something wrong that only pulling the head will reveal ...

... more to come.

The other 2 cylinders are hiding in the trunk smile.gif

Nah, I am trying to see if I can get the old 261 to run well enough to actually drive the car some places for a while, as I finish building the 496, plus I'd like to install the new tranny and rebuild the rear end before dropping in the big motor ...

Well dad's 61 Strato Chief with the 261 once hit 120 mph on Hwy 27, Mom didn't know that, LOL!

It was a midnight blue 2dr. sedan, probably weighed less than your 4dr Carl.

Carl1 and Carl2 are always good for my daily laugh, double in this instance. You two guys should form a comedy team, like Bob & Ray (ha! who remembers them?) or Stan & Ollie!

Then we'd never stop laughing, eh? wink.gif
