if you have a 70 396 camaro ,,then very valuable, otherwise ,,it's just bragging rights... it still has good value because of the low miles, what heads it has will make the price difference...
I'd hate to put a # on it, prices vary across canada...

The suffix won't likely be on the pad behind the water pump, it'll be in the usual spot, the machined pad at the front of the block, just below the passenger side cylinder head.
It's a truck block hence the "T" at the beginning of the suffix also looks like thats the pad above the timing cover.Could be a truck "402".All passenger car blocks have a "C" at the beginning of the suffix.2 letter designation is a '60's block and 3 letter is a '70's block.Hope this helps.

so, the pic I posted above which is from a 76? truck, that is how they did them later on? that is the pad behind the water pump TDC of the block below intake...
now I have to go pop hoods in the yard and dig out my 396 stuffed in the corner...

On the passenger side of the engine, the machined top surface of the block will extend forward of the cylinder head about 1/2". That's where the stamping will be. If the alternator is on the passenger side, you'll need to tip it out of the way. Depending on the condition of the engine, you may need to wipe away a bunch of gook to see the engine stamping. For a 1970 block, you should also see the last 7 or 8 digits of the VIN, often stamped in smaller lettering (I think GM started that in 67 or 68, so when a car was stolen and chopped up the engine & tranny had partial VIN's stamped on them)
The photo posted above is for later later blocks, where the stamping is above the water pump.
T0C08 TRL:Denotes to Tonawanda;March 8th.TRL denotes to '73-'75 454 210 hp.In the "nasty Z28"link it states that Big Block's had the codes above the timing chain cover-not true!!Since the '60's they have been on the right side of the block in front of the head.Look at an LS6 for instance-below the alternator. It'll read T---- CRV/CRR or CRS for an aluminum head car.The best way to tell is try to get a look at the casting # behind the driver's side head on top of the block. My advice is always do your homework when buying something when regarding anything classic/vintage.Lots of people have paid way too much for something that wasn't.My 02cents that's all.
