new guy,new toys

Hi All
Well i am new here and happy to find a site that deals with the canadian pontiacs.I have just acquired 2 54 pontiacs. The first i beleive is a 1954 4 dr pathfinder deluxe.Tag info as follows
model 20-69wd
4206900013
eng-w9257323
trim 612
paint 472
body 2

It is an inline 6 motor, hydramatic trans, the color from the paint samples i've seen is coral red(more orange than red).It has been sitting under a tarp in a garage for about 25 years.Someone did some work on it around 1993 but thats the last time it was really touched from what i know.It has some neat options like fender skirts,d.s mirror that doubles as a spotlight, some sort of screen sunvisor in the trunk along with the original spare and jack that i don't think have ever been out of the car.I have a ton of questions like where can a guy find a manual?does it have to be a manual printed in canada(i understand the u.s chiefton model is different in many ways)Where can a guy find parts, such as a tranny rebuild kit, original hubcaps(canadian ones again are different?)What color should the motor be,it appears to have been painted black at one time.

The second vehicle is much rougher but much rarer. It is a 1954 pontiac 2 door sedan delivery. Here is it's tag info
model 22-71
4227113123
eng w273771
trim 303
body 607
paint 456

It is fairly rough as it has been outside for 30 years but mostly complete.I am told the doors and the trim are exclusive to the panel and they are still there, along with the original wood floors. It has been partially dis-assembled but pretty much loaded floor to roof with parts.
The plan is to get the 4 door up and driving and then work on the delivery in the future. It will need floorpans and rockers but i am told the 210 chevys are the same.
Anyways any info would be helpful.
Thanks in advance.

Welcome aboard.
Ask away.
I'm really surprised that only 1 guy so far has asked for pics - that's usually the first thing they say.

I got the car in the garage today and cleaned out, lots of parts to sort through.Good news is everything seems to be there and in decent shape. It will need a new battery tray, antenna assembly, trunk lock and key.I will probably see if a locksmith can make keys for it as it has none. The floors appear very solid,i took the seats out as they were loose. One small hole on the d.s beside the seat and it appears that frame mount is rotton, but thats the only one, trunk is solid, reart seat area is solid.I will have a crawl underneath tomorrow and check some more.I did find 3 hubcaps, the original spare and jack, all the inner fenders panels seem solid other than needing a good scrape and repaint. The p.s side front door is missing ther little roller piece off the end so it doesn't stay shut. Some more pics for you, enjoy.

I did some more cleaning and poking around on the car today.I took off one front fender and found what i beleive to be the original color, anybody have any ideas. Also snappen a few pics of the tranny so i can try to figure out if it is a powerglide or a hydramatic.Only one body mount shows any rot and maybe 6 inches of lower rocker.

Great that clears up another mystery as there was some confussion over what tranny i did have.My research said all 54's had the hydramatic, but obviously at least some got the powerglide still due to the supply issue/fire,that i have read about.Yes i will definitely need some info on it.This car is still a bit foggy on what exactly has been done to it.I was told the front seal was leaking but i see no evidence of any leakage, evrything is bone dry underneath. The engine has been out and back in.The lift chain is still attached to the block.Alot of the bolts are still loose including the crank pulley.I went to turn the engine by hand and ther bolt was still loose,i tightened it up enough to crank the engine over and the motor spins over easy and i can hear compression coming out the open exhaust manifolds. The block and tyrans appear to be freshly painted. It just needs the rear put back together so i will definitely need some pics of that.I also need a breakdown of the starter and generator as mine have been taken apart, cleaned and repainted but not re-assembled.There is also a bit of a mystery on the interior as no one has seen one like it.

Just to help you to know a bit much your car, the Canadian Pontiac (series 20 and 22) like yours came only with the Powerglide transmission (or the manual shift), the Hydramatic was use only on the US model (series 25 and 27).

Like I said before, if you need something let me know, I think I have mostly everything you can need.

Really good car to put back on the road, and picture of the sedan delivery please..

Fitz.

Thanks for the engine and tranny pics those helped a bit.I have lots of loose lines and wires so lots of questions.Hopefully my manual will be here in a week or so.Where can one get new fuel lines from.Mine are a fabric covered deal and are kinda frayed at the ends.I don't really want to take a chance on them. Also can someone post a pic of the fuel pump and where the lines run to,i think i have 2 loose that i'm not quite sure where they go.Also any underhood shots as i am trying to piece back together allthe underhood sheetmetal, horn wiring(mine has dual horns up on the hood),headlight wiring, boy do i need that manual.I found and printed out all the powerglide manual and diagnosis books online so that part is covered.I would like to get it up and running so i can see if the trans is leaking or not.I will also have to locate a brake cylinder rebuild kit(attached to the pedal)as this looks like the only piece that hasn't been touched.Oh and a couple wheel studs that i can see are broken.I will haveto pull all the wheels and check the condition of the brakes as well. Thanks to NOS for the heads up on the carpet.

Alright a little more progree today, figure out a few wires, cleaned some more parts. If anybody can post some pics of a complete engine bay that would help as i still have lots of lines, brackets, etc to figure out.I did some more searching on the interior and found a pic on an old sales brochure, very similar to mine, but the brouchure is for a chiefton special deluxe. Also does anybody know are the underhood tins the same as a chevy 210,i'll post some pics if anyone knows the official name or source that would help.I could save these with a little cut and weld if i have to.Also i need apic of the hood hinges,i think mine are supposed to have springs that are in a bin in the trunk.

Wow! Nice car and welcome! Your fuel line runs from the passenger side Where the pump is with a rubber line to a steel line along the front frame rail then on to the driverside frame along the insde rail to the back of the car then accross to the tank outlet. There its all steel. If I can tomorrow I can get a pic up of one of my frames with the fuel line just out of place so you can see where it goes.
