Carl;

I notice that you like 65 Acadian Canso's.

My oldest son once had a 67 Acadian Canso.  Sadly, he didn't keep it stock.  He installed a full race 350,  with  a roller cam, etc then tubbed out the rear wheel wells, put on huge slicks and went drag racing.  Talk about the sound of an engine idling...

Yes, sadly the same fate has fallen on most Novas and Acadians. They make great drag cars so everyone does it. That is why I am so bent on keeping mine in a way that it looks stock, or is easily returned to stock. It's getting tough to find an unmodded Canso SD.

My first car was a 65 Canso SD. I sold it after 18 months, in Nov 85. Bought another in 77, drag raced it, sold it, bought another in 86 and still have it.

Carl;
shifting over to the 1969 Beaumont SD  ...   I don't know if this has been pointed out yet, but;    a big reason why there were so few 69 SD  396's  made and sold that year was due to the fact that GM  began to import and sell the GTO into Canada in 1969.  I know that for a fact  because I was working  for a large GM pontiac buick dealer at the time.  At that particuler dealership  in 1969  there were no  big block SD's  coming through.  the main focus was on the GTO,  the  new Gran Prix;  and the Firebird Trans Am.

You make a very good point.  It's a shame really that the Beaumont likely died because of that. It would have been neat to see a 70 up Beaumont continue.

Yup, do as always. Chevelle sheet metal, GTO dash, split grille so it's "almost" a Pontiac...

Oh, and unique trim and tail light treatment of course.

Fred , I asked the same thing. I was told before the 69 even came out they knew it was the last year so nothing was started for 70
