I was told that it was a T-10, but from what I've read , being this has a 26 spline input shaft? it would be a ST-10? richmond built cast case ST-10 for the aftermarket???

From my dusty memory the cast iron case with aluminum tailshaft was a Super T-10 probably mid seventies to early eighties. There was one in my 1980 Z-28, I thought it was an oddball with this combination. My 78 Z-28 had an all aluminum case. The one you have should have a fine spline output as well as the input like the late Muncie that was produced until about 1974. I think the early GM T-10 (up to 63?)were all cast iron. I think T-10 and Super T-10 transmissions were made for other makes as well. Hot Rod Magazine had a two part article during 1980 or 81 that was a guide to the various 4 speeds at the time, if you happen to have these magazines in you collection. Most of the info on GM transmissions in the Hot Rod guide seemed to be fairly accurate from my experiences.

Rog, it's definitely an ST-10, here's a quick bit of info I found online.

I have more detailed info at home, but this should answer your question. I've been looking for a 2.64 first gear ST-10 for awhile now, but might be interested in the 2.88 ratio model if you were thinking of selling.
I have had at one time over 10 ST-10's of all gear ratio's and the 4 ring does denote 2:88 first gear and available in the Corvette.I searched long and hard for one.And it should also have an aluminum body as well as a aluminum tailshaft.I also have a list of every gear ratio for the ST-10 somewhere in my mag. collection.ST-10's have soooo many ratio's that it's mind boggling. And just a note that ST-10's came in T/A's,Camaro's and Corvette's up to '82 'cause I had one w/ a 3:42 first gear but it had provisions for the torsion bar that ran length wise from the diff to the tranny.Really wierd looking I thought. And it was all aluminum as well.

I haven't seen a ST-10 for years (say mid-70's), but I as I recall, the one I saw had ST-10 cast right into the casing. The T-10 beside it had T-10 cast in the same place.
Is my memory bad or do some of them have the ST10 cast in them and otherrs don't?
