as some might know  here  , i am looking  for a repro hood  for my plane 67 Beaumont

all the  suppliers  have  SS hoods  and  standard  hoods   EXCEPT   for 67  ( THEY ONLY  LIST THE COWL  OR  SS  HOOD  FOR THAT PERTICULIAR YEAR ???? )

unless i go  with  fiberglass , wich is not my priority

WHY   ?????

if someone ever has a link  for a standart 67 hood  please  let me know

The bottom line here is, they sell what people will buy in a large enough quantity to justify the expense of setting up production, manufacturing and distribution.  If they don't have it today, they probably will at some point in the future.

Personally, I hate to see what is available today for our cars.  Car collecting used to be about the hunt for hard to find parts.  Today, guys buy a car and just open up a catalog expecting to buy everything they need to restore or upgrade their car.  To me, that lowers the value of all our cars that still retain their original sheet metal.
Those of us that restored a car 25 years ago with either NOS or used sheet metal now find no market for the used parts we collected during the years of restoration.  We bought parts cars and traveled to swap meets in order to find that part we needed to upgrade the quality of our cars.  Now nobody wants to buy the good used parts we collected because they can just wait until next payday and buy a new reproduction of that part.
Someone once said, "they don't know what they don't know".  That is so true when it comes to car guys new to the hobby.  They don't know what it is like to restore a car without the Internet and all the new reproduction parts available today.  It's not their fault but it is a little hard to see how it is taken for granted.

Forespeed, you just hit a nerve there for me, I have a friend who was doing a 1941 Grayham Paige Hollywood {rare car} He had a shop do all the d/train,"new" crate mtr, 700 R tranny, A/C, ETC I tried to get him to go to some of the flea markets when he needed parts, NO WAY, "I'm not wasting time looking for parts, I'll just go on the internet & order them" Couldn't get him to understand what he was missing in the "HUNT"  His car is done now, gorgeous Street Rod, hardly driven it, up for sale now, & is having a 40 Willy's Coupe Gasser built for him in the States!!!  No effort put into the car, just click on line or pick up the phone, never got his hands dirty once!!!   These are NOT car people!!!!

Run an ad on kijiji looking for a hood. Someone will have one. Or go to Ancaster this Sunday and wear a sign.

Plain hoods seem to become available quite often. It shouldn't take long to find a good one. So often in fact that if I had one for sale, I don't think I'd spend money advertising it. Kijiji for free would be the way to sell it. If you can't find one, I've gotta think there should be quite a few in the auto yards (missing the chrome though).

PS  I've found '67 Chevelle/Beaumont parts to be more readily available after market than the '66 parts?...
