RE: 66 Pontiac Beaumont Sport Deluxe Convertible

I picked up one from NPD a little while back. Almost identical to my old "sagging" mirror. Just be mindful that some of the reproductions have the Chevy bowtie on them which is not what you want. (Personally, I think square mirrors look better on these square cars. Just not factory correct.) Let us know how you make out with your GM info!

If you don't already have it, I believe the contact is still:
George Zapora at 1-888-467-6853 or 905-440-7636
or email at george.zapora@cc.gm.ca
George is a good man. Make sure you keep us posted. Nice car!!!

PS  I think that square side mirror might be off a '67?

Hi Geoff.    Got my info back from George at GM. Thanks again for his name. He was fast. Though he now wants $73.45 for this service now. See attatched photo. It's states it's a Beaumont Custom Convertible.  They call it that on one line but then call it Sport Deluxe on another line. Is it not a true Sport Deluxe ? I'm confused here.

FYI  -  The update on the chrome trim set for the '66 SD from Taylor at DT Stainless

The new prices from DT Stainless for the complete '66 sport Deluxe chrome set is now $2995 plus $100 shipping plus $100 for the fasteners if needed.

Prices were $2200 in Dec. 09. Prices up everywhere it seems. Can't get a break these days.  furious

All 66 and early 67 Sport Deluxe cars were Customs with the A51 Sport Option. If you go in to the Beaumont tech section you will find a ton of reading on how that went. It is quite interesting. Yes, you have a real SD according to the documents.

Carl are all early American Chevelles born as 736 cars with a 738 on the tag to denote SS also. I just came across this the other day. A build sheet with 736 and 738 on the cowl tag and vin. Sorry if this is off topic but it's sort of related.

Of course, I had no brain when I replied above. They never had a Malibu SS after 1965 did they... Only big block SS 396 cars or plain Malibu.

I guess I am asking not telling. I am not sure. I check out a 738 SS Chevelle for a friend and pop the trunk only to see the build tag on the seat. It has all the same options including the colors as the cowl tag but has the 736 suffix on it instead of the 738. The cowl tag and the vin both are 738. Even if the seat isn't from this car it matches the option list except it is a 736. This is a Kansas car. Weird eh?

68SD, Only US Super Sport 396 Chevelles were 138 cars starting in 66. GM Canada never had the super sport 396 package in 66, the Canadian 66 cars were 136 cars with the Malibu SS option and you could add a 396 only with the flat hood and Malibu SS emblems on the quarters and Malibu on the dash
