What is your C.I.

Cylinder Index
The Cylinder Index (or C.I.) is a measurement device in which the total number of internal combustion engine cylinders (working or non-working) owned by an individual (single-cylinder chainsaws, lawnmowers, 2-cycle, 4-cycle, multi-clinder diesels, trucks and farm tractors) are tallied. The Garage Logician who attains a C.I. in excess of his age is revered. - Joe Soucheray, Mayor of Garage Logic.
8 65 Beaumont

8 97 Ford F250
6 06 Ford Fusion
4 07 Saturn
8 09 Ford F150
1 air compressor
1 lawnmower

C.I. = 68
Age = 54

Only included the one in my garage at home. There are 5 more that I use but have not counted. There are also additional vehicles that I use as well. When the primary use is business I didn't think it was fair to count as art of my C.I.

A few questions---

Bare block count, or only whole engines?

Need not run?

Stuff at the cottage count?

I would say you need to have all the pieces but it doesn't need to run.
Stuff at the cottage would count.
I'm interpreting it as mostly personal use rather than business.

Apparently you have lots of engines lying around?  Didnt think you had that many whole cars.

I think this should be limited to working cylinders, not stuff lying around. Take me for example, I only own 5 cars but they are all working and licensed and driven regularily. It doesn't seem right to me to count a bare block that is a door stop or the old Briggs and Straton that hasn't run in 15 years.

Then take my number and halve it, approximately.

Both numbers came to 62.

Question. Does anyone think my wife will buy this line as justification for adding another vehicle or 2?

Its kind of funny because only one of my project cars is running, but I have a lot of engines laying around....

6 - 67' Camaro
6 - Exploder
8 - 55' wagon

24 - 3 x 454
8 - 1 x 427 TD
16 - 2 x 400
16 - 2 x 350
7 - 327 with a ventilated cylinder
8 - 283
8 - 241 Hemi

1 - Weedwacker
4 - my two air compressors :P

so thats...112

If its running vehicles. Its 13. The weekwacker counts, right?

I have about 4 times as many cylinders as my age.
