I have a set of reproduction air cleaner decals here that I misordered (off by one error on the part number). They arrived looking just like what I wanted (427 Astro Jet) except the one sticker says
JET-FLAME 390HP
What the heck is a "Jet Flame"? I at first thought perhaps it was a Frenchification for the Quebec cars, but the repro sites show it for some years and not others.
Anyone know why some would be "Astro Jet" and some "Jet Flame"?
Oh yeah, now I can read the text and see it explains that. Pretty confusing at a glance to read about that 425 horse "stroker small block" until you see where it says not illustrated....!

The pic of the 327 just reminded me of a thread from way back when re whether or not the alternator should be mounted on the front or the rear of the bracket. Carl S determined that the book indicated that it should go on the front. The picture backs this up. (It also shows the VCD's without the ACD.) Interesting...

Hmm, yes, never thought to look at the alternator mounting but you are right. And also, I am convinced that the air cleaner decal would be absent, as you say and as is shown.
