I still wish it was kept stock. Here's the car when I had it:

I assume they tossed out the near mint interior no
Where did the steering wheel go?? The factory tissue dispenser is gone too!
The radio still worked!

As I was reading down and looking at the pictures, I was thinking "This was such a beautiful car before it was modified" and then I read where you said I wish they would have left it stock!

I have to agree. I think the car deserved better. Just my two cents. Everyone has their own idea as to what looks best on a certain car.

Yean, tough to beat the look of the original engine bay as well. Bummer...

As much as it was a beautiful car as you had it Todd, and had it remained so it would have been still, I really think he's done a awsome job on it. Flame me if you want, but imop those big torque thrust style wheels on that type of car really bring it into the modern era. And the interior really has a new sharp fresh look to it now. Even the console looks right.

But would someone pay 45 for it?

I'm a purist. Hate to see an origonal car, messed up or cloned. It was a pretty car.

I dont mind wheels or minor mods that can easily be removed. In my opinion the guy should have picked a car with trashed interior and paint..

If we are counting votes on this one I'm with Mark and Tiny. Looks like the way I would have built it if it was an AMT model when I was kid. I really like it.

My goal if I kept it was to make it like this:
1960NHRA.jpg

I had a correct date coded tri power intake for it and NOS era correct Hedman headers with dump pipes to install! Raise the front end a bit, install tow bars, get some vinyl decals "Gold Digger" and I'd have been all set!

Choices!

The original car was great, I would have kept it stock, maybe just dress up the motor with chrome valve covers and air cleaner. The 3 deuces would have been very tempting, I'd probably have put them on.

But the modified version is very nice. Classy interior. I cannot imagine anyone buying it for $45,000 though.

Turning it into a clone of the 1960 drag race car would have been way cool! You'd need those 8-bolt aluminum wheels though, and I think they are near impossible to find at any kind of reasonable price. But the tri-power would be right on!

So to choose - I'll take one of each! smile.gif

I suppose that's why AMT gave your 3 versions to build. I usually ended up combining parts from all three smile

I love both versions. it really depends on your perception of what you wanted at the time Todd.
if your car came this way from the factory they would have sold millions wink

I agree with you Todd. I've never been one for "slamming" something, or chopping or channeling
or giant rims or air rides. I too think like you said, he'd have been better off grabbing some other piece that was gutted and started from there rather than doing to it what he did. Especially when it was just a nice door slammer driver to begin with. Again, just another opinion and I totally respect the guys who like it done up as it is too! I too used to use parts from all 3 model choices in the old AMT kits to get the result I wanted. That was the main reason for buying the kits that offered more than just a standard factory model in the box. And of course no one is going to even
make a comment about that wonderful Tester's glue we used to sniff for hours on end! LOL! Hmmmm.....maybe THAT'S "WHY" I'm the way I am today? hahahaha!
