What! No more Sunoco 94???

A buddy at work told me that Husky has taken over Sunoco and thet 94 will no longer be available. I scoffed at him. Guess what? I drive by my neibourhood sunoco today...it's fenced off closed and being renovated into a Husky!

Drove by the Husky remake station, and it appears although the pumps have completly new graphics, I can still see the 94 button and price on the far right of the pumps.
Maybe I'll get lucky and have one of the few 94 Husky stations close to me.

No matter how the stations are branded I doubt you'll see the end of 94; it's a very popular commodity and the market rules.

I wouldn't worry. What's essentially happening in the case of those outlets being switched from Sunoco to Petro-Canada is a rebranding of the Sunoco line.

For those who don't know, Suncor Energy took over ownership of Petro-Canada last summer. Petro-Canada no longer exists as a corporation, but it remains as a retail brand of Suncor's.

As a result of the the merger, Suncor had to divest of some of its retail gasoline & convenience operations, e.g. the Husky conversions. The Sunoco stations being kept by Suncor are being rebranded from Sunoco  to Petro-Canada.

CALGARY The merging of Suncor Energy Inc. (TSX: SU) and former Crown corporation Petro-Canada (TSX: PCA) could create a Canadian energy giant hefty enough to compete with heavyweights like ExxonMobil Corp. (NYSE: XOM) in the North American arena.

The combined company, which would have a market capitalization of $43.3-billion and would operate under the Suncor name, would be the largest energy company in Canada and the fifth largest in North America

I work for Ma Bell, and one of the ladies in my group is on the project where Sunoco stations are being taken over Husky -  she's running the new data circuits in for Husky.   She was away for the past couple weeks on vacation, and I was watching the project for her.  Lots of fun.
