1969 Beaumont Restoration Progress

well after lots of work and a Few skinned knuckles we flashed up the 350 day before yesterday, car started right away and only needed minor adjustment to the dist to get her to idle really nice, she purred like a kitten and roared like a lion, I kind of liked it with the wide open headers. Ran her long enought to get the temp up and make sure the cooling system was working OK. Had one oil leak at the bottom of the  Gear drive cover, can't have that so I spent yesterday stripping away the front of the motor so I could get at the cover, put a new gasket and sealer on her and 6 hrs later she was all back together. I let her sit overnight and then went out this morning and flashed her up, ran her for 15 mins with no visable leaks, THANK GOD. The one thing about doing a resto is you sure get to KNOW YOUR CAR. I can't wait till I get a chance to test that New 350 with the Tremec 5speed, my buddies just want me to throw a bucket seat in her and take a quick spin but I think my neighbors might go nuts so I will just be patient and wait untill I at least get the mufflers On.

Looking good Mylo. I got to start working on mine. Wish I was as far into it as yours. What make of headers are you using ? Look like ceramic coated.

The body is sitting on a metal frame on rollers so I could move it around my shop before I mounted it on my frame, I also had a home made rottiserie so I could hang the body and rotate it to get at the bottom, sure made putting the new gas tank easy and repainting the underbody.

The Frame for the body support is

2X6 supports 87" long X 40 1/2 " wide
The frame is made from 1 1/2 angle iron and is 25 1/2 " high
The casters are 5 " swivel , it makes it easy to move the body around your shop and to push it up against a wall when you need the room.
