That is so sweet. You know the engine is actually half of a 389 and incidently they were available in '63 with a 326, not that it would interest anyone but the 326, 389, 421 you know all all pretty much the same engine externally.

I believe in 62 the optional V-8 was a 215 Buick

Here are some pics of the 61 Tempest I built about 5 years ago. Was bone stock when I got it and 100% complete. Had 94,467 miles on it when I got it and I drove it for six or seven months (all winter) untill it turned 000000 then I did it to it. Crate 350, 700R,  Narrowed TA disc brake rear, Mustang II front end narrowed 2in.  chev disc brakes, bucket seats, stock rear seat(folding), hand fabbed console with gauges, and a grey tweed and leather upholstery job. I put 3 coats of red singal stage color and 3 coats of clear on it and color sanded and polished it. Had 80's Camaro wheels smoothed and polished. Was a fun car and I sold it to a collector in Pittsburg and it is in his museum.

Very cool! The rear looks like a hearse, the sides look like it's an aqua car and the front is...cooooool.

Is that fendor mirror factory?

The factory setup was a torque tube to a rear transaxle. Really different. I have a 4-5 page introduction advertisement for this car somewhere.

No luck yet. May do a V8 four speed conversion on it.

If that 62 Tempest wagon was a bit cheaper I may take a shot at it. They make a real cool ride when you DO THEM UP.
