Bit hard to tell. Is it black or dark blue?

The '86 actually has the Pontiac body work, not the Caprice body with grilles and tail lights. Nice rare factory wheel covers too. That is a fine looking car. I'm going to find out where it is.

It is an Oshawa car Todd, about this time GM Canada was shipping these south because some genius in Detroit decided to slap the Bonneville nameplate on the Grand LeMans Sedan and US buyers went confuse

It looks good Mark but what do you peg thes eat in terms of value, Is that a $1,000 car? Original owner cars are always hard to negotiate down, they seem attached to them.

Nice car.  My dad bought one with 10,000 miles on it in '87 for $13,000.  It had the Chevy 305 and saw a lot of highway miles.  He ended up passing it on to my brothers son with 292,000 miles on it.  It went another 25,000 miles before the body gave way.  One of the most reliable cars he ever owned and one hell of a motor in that thing!

A neighbour had a Caprice 305 with over 400,000 km, it was an ex-taxi if you can believe it. That is one heck of a lot of travelling.

I had a1989 Caprice ex OPP cruiser (unmarked) 350 with 230,000 kms-I sold it to the local cab company in 1998-they drove it 6 more years and it made it to 1000000 kms

I think 3 grand is fair if it is truly rust free and the interior is clean. I'd consider it as a daily driver however I'm spoiled with my Buick's ABS and stability control. That comes in handy on the 401 during the winter!

I agree.  While not everyone thinks like I do (good thing!), I always say a decent safetied vehicle is worth a minimum of $1500-$2000. This car is certainly well above a decent car. That easily puts another $1000 of value into it.

Another thing I use as a rule of thumb is that if you buy an older used vehicle and can depreciate it $1000 a year (meaning if you pay 5 grand and get 5 years out of it) that is a good investment. Certainly this car will give far more than 3 years of driving with low maintenance costs.

I am guessing in the next year or two,  it will likely end up needing wheel cylinders and calipers, a water pump, some exhaust work, coolant hoses and maybe a set of frost plugs since it likely sat too much. That still shouldn't add up to $1000 if a guy does his own work, so to me it would still be a deal even at that amount.

Not having to pass E test every 2yrs adds value to me. I usually pick'em up for less than a Grand.
