Someone told me last week that a couple drops of Tabasco Sauce applied to a rusted-on nut will help loosen it.
Sounds like a old wive's tale!

I knew an old guy that poured a bit of lacquer thinner in the tank with each fill up. He swore it cleaned his engine!

Prior to a tune up pour a Small bottle of warm water down the carb with the motor revving at about 3000 rpm, will clean off deposits on the valves (but don't let it stall). Lots of black crud out the tailpipes, then change the plugs. I have done this very noticeable improvement in performance
You know what works even better.....................Getting it properly repaired at a radiator shop!
The eggs work!!!!! I had a hole in my rad on a Sunday night when I dropped a buddy off. I was an hour away from home, and we put 2 eggs in the rad.... first time I had ever heard of this. Drove for about 10 min, then pulled over to check, the leak had stopped and it never affected the cooling of the car at all!!!!! I think I drove for a month before I got it fixed......

When I was a youngster working as a dishwasher/pizza delivery dude my blower motor went on me in the middle of winter...the owner cut me up a raw potato and told me to put it on my dash to keep the windshield from frosting up.....didn't work lol.

Panty hose in place of a broken fan belt. Didn't last more than 10 feet! And she wasn't too happy as they hadn't even run yet.
Keep your battery on a piece of wood, not in direct contact with the concrete floor to prevent it's storage discharge. I laugh everytime somone tells me that one!

If your car has a rear-end whine, put bananas in there and it will go away . Not sure if it works, I keep eating the bananas first ! lol... this would be an ugly job besides ....
The shop I worked at quite a few years ago hired a "helper" one of my co workers had him clean and paint some engine parts. He was told prior to painting he had to shake the can until the ball stops rattling to make sure the paint was mixed properly......He fell for it.

I've heard that some car dealers used to put saw dust in a noisy rear-end back in the day.,,, to keep them quiet ,..... until the car was off the lot

A tea spoon of brake fluid into the powersteering to soften up the seals to fix a leak. I have done this on three different vehicles and works well. The first one was a chevy 1/2 ton. The fluid was running out so had nothing to lose. Stopped it completely. I even used it on a car with rack and pinion steering. The rack was leaking. Drove the car for another year and never had a leak!!!
