It's a very nice looking car. 455 needs some bottom end work, so count on a rebuild. I emailed the owner when it was for sale before. He wasn't interested in a trade. If the body is as nice as it looks it's worth that money.

Agreed, that it is common to have bearing failure on those. If it needs a crank, those can be expensive/hard to find.

I heard there is a repro out. Do you know anything about the quality of them?

Street piece only or is it a race part?

There are several cranks available for pontiac motors and the cast pieces are good quality. The cast units will easily take power in a street car up to (550)hp. There are forged units available but in a cruiser its a waste of money.
The clearences in the bottom end should be done very carefully and with any new crank a line bore is standard.
As Rabbit 64 mentioned SD Performance is good (BC) and Butler Performance in the US.

my friend is running a crank from SD making an easy number in the high 400 horse/ 500 torque. It was nice quality, measured and a light polish outta the box.

A bigger thing with the 455 is to use block filler to stiffen the bottem end. His car is street driven with a Tremec with no heating issues. the thing revs like a 327 chevy !!

I will be buying a crank from SD for 76 T/A 455 sitting in my shop, I am looking for a good used , but for machine shop money , new is most likely the way to go.

i wouldnt do that even with a sd keep it below 6 grand unless you actually build the engine , torque is the BOPC forte' , thats were they are happiest to make them rev cost big money and if you screw up then its realy big money

In the last two weeks i have put on 150 miles on my 400 stroker now 464.
I bought all my rotating assembly from SD ,crank/I-beam rods/ross pistons and all bearings.
The motor has all roller valvetrain and runs great.
I assembled the motor and this thing makes big torque and sucks back the eyeballs.
I wont shift it beyond 6gs because i dont have to ,the torque will pull the car.
As a note my car also revs like a small block and a good buddy said to me (I CANT KICK THE SMILE OFF YOUR FACE )
