HERE IS MY 1972 FORD GRAN TORINO SPORT. IT WAS BUILT AT THE OAKVILLE PLANT IN JANUARY OF 1972. IT IS EQUIPPED WITH A 429-4BBL ENGINE, 3:25 TRACTION-LOK 9 INCH REAR AND C6 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. SELECTED OPTIONS INCLUDED COMPETITION SUSPENTION, BUCKET SEATS WITH CONSOLE, INSTRUMENTATION GROUP, MAGNUM 500 WHEELS, WHITE WITH BLACK INTERIOR, BRIGHT RED PAINT AND LAZER STRIPE. THE CAR WAS ORDERED BY OTTAWA MOTORS SALES 1970 LTD IN MID DECEMBER OF 1971. THIS IS 1 OF 1207 2 DOOR SPORTROOF GRAN TORINO SPORTS BUILT THAT YEAR WITH THE 429-C6 (4-SPEED'S ONLY AVALIBLE WITH THE 351-4BBL IN 1972). THIS IS THE ONLY DIGITAL PICTURE I HAVE AT THIS TIME. THIS WAS TAKEN IN MY BUDDIES SHOP A DAY OR TWO AFTER I BOUGHT IT. I HAVE WANTED ONE OF THESE CARS SINCE I WAS A KID, THIS ONE CAME ALONG AND I KNEW IT WAS THE RIGHT ONE FOR ME. I HAVE MOSTLY A GM PREFERENCE, BUT I LIKE ALL CARS! SO THERE YOU HAVE IT, MY FORD. LET THE BEATINGS BEGIN!!! LOL!
Hey Mike Nice Fff....Forrrr.....Okay car Bet that thing really moves! Original paint?
Confession time, my wifes girlfriend showed up the other day in her 1969 Cougar with a transplanted 390. Seeing I was a car guy she had brought it over so I could take it for a ride! After a dose of alergy pills to avoid breaking out in a rash, I took the keys....sure is a nice machine, hideway headlights etc...lots of go with that warmed up 390 and C6 with a bit of a stall converter. I guess there is life other than GM!
My brother ordered one New but it was too late and it came as a '73. Brown with the Laser stripe.351. Bought in K-W area. I didn't know they built them in Oakville.
I drove the living cr-p out of a '72 Maverick V-6. The front spindle twisted off taking a fast corner in Belleville. I left it on three wheels at this friend of a friend's place, and took the train back to Cobourg. I never saw the car again. My one and only Ford. Don't get me wrong, I do like Fords. You guys have some beauts!

THANKS GUYS! THE CAR IS ORIGINAL PAINT. THE ENGINE IS KINDA SLUGGISH. 1971 WAS THE LAST YEAR FOR A POWERFUL 429, IN '72 THE 351 4BBL WAS THE MUSCLE ENGINE(CJ). YOU CAN DO ALOT WITH 429CU.IN. THOUGH, SO I'M NOT WORRIED! I DON'T HAVE A NUMBER FOR CANADIAN ONLY CARS WITH THIS POWER-TRAIN. I WONDER IF MARTI INCLUDES THAT ON THE HIGH DOLLAR REPORT? I RECEIVED THE DELUXE REPORT. AS FAR AS CALLING ME CLINT...MIKE WORKS JUST FINE...ALTHOUGH WE DO SEEM TO SHARE THE SAME SCOWL, AND MY CAR MUST HAVE SOME SORT OF MILITARY HISTORY AS THERE IS A CFB CHILLIWACK STICKER ON THE FRONT BUMPER.
Although I truly love the GM lineup of vintage automobiles I personally think that all of the Big 3 had some absolutely beautiful machines up for offer way back when. I've always used the phrase "they quit making cars after 1969" as there are only a handful, in my opinion anyways, after that which I would consider fabulous. I've always loved the Daytona Superbirds; Super Bees; Cudas; Challengers; even though they WERE still in production after '69. I've always loved the Torinos; some Mustangs; 7-Litre Galaxie convertibles; and others that escape memory at this present moment in time. They all had their hey-days from the '50's to the late '60's. How can you not love cars of ANY make that just reek of chrome inside and out? Or something that pushes the limits of horsepower and performance no matter what the make? Take a look around today at the "cookie cutter" car industry and I rest my case. Just so long as we ALL agree that old cars, no matter what their make or model are "the cat's pajamas" then that's all that matters. Keep 'em alive is what I say, no matter what!

My best friends older brother had what sounds like the identical car...it was rolled and then caught fire ... ahem! The engine and tranny survive to this day. I have a picture of it somewhere, burned from the taillights to the firewall. ZAPPER

Love your Lazer stripe 72 Mike! I had a 73, pitty that the frontal impact laws ruined such a nice looking front face of the 72 in 73. Wish I still had mine, it was a 351Cleveland 4 speed car, 9inch with what must have been a low gear, revved around 35 at 60 if I remember right. Black interior, buckets and console. Went pretty good. Sold it after rebuilding the engine to a guy in Troy Ontario around 84, wonder if it still exsists? It was still pretty solid.

Mike, Did you ever take more pictures of your '72? It's one nice ride!!
NO I DIDN'T. IT'S NOW STUCK IN THE CORNER OF THE GARAGE AND WON'T BE SEEING THE LIGHT OF DAY UNTIL MY '64 LAURENTIAN WILL MOVE UNDER HER OWN POWER. I CAN'T GET IT OUT UNTIL THEN. WHY IS IT THAT A GARAGE IS NEVER AS BIG AS YOU NEED?!!! ALSO, I HAVE THE TITLE OF "ONLY HUMAN ON THE PLANET THAT DOESN'T OWN A DIGITAL CAMERA"!
