I can for sure see a paint code and a trim code , but it is hidden under all the layers of black paint.

Better have a closer look.
Paint looks like a C or O or something like that.  single letter it will be
Trim code will be 3 digits

Welcome to the site.    71837 is the code for a v8 Canso SD two door hardtop . There was 552 of this model produced.  M35 is for a powerglide trany.  Looks like you can just make out a C on the tag. If that is a C it would be  White. Can not make out the trim numbers. If I am wrong Fred will chime in to correct.

Just wondering what engine is in it ?  283 or 327 ?

I'm told the engine is a 383 stroker. The original and tranny have long since been changed.

I agree it is hard to read but after looking at it with MS Picture It and PhotoShop I make it out to be probably the following:biggrin

STYLE 71837 : Acadian Canso Sport Deluxe V8 2-door Hardtop
1-5-10 : 1st Shift May 10, 1966
Body NO.  807107 : Factory Body Sequential Number
PAINT                 C : Provincial White
TRIM               054 : Black Bucket Seat Interior
                      M35 : Powerglide 2-Speed Automatic Transmission

My question is what is the large 9 on the far right side stand for?confuse

Gary
