greetings from new member

hi all, just picked my new 65 poncho and wondering what it,s worth was ball park. it has been stored for many years and i'm the 3rd owner and all the numbers match. it has a 327 with about 60k on it.even the rag is original. let me know and would love some opinions on it.

Welcome soupnatzi. I am cheap so I'm not going first on value. A 327 convertible Custom Sport is a nice ride though, most would have been 283s.

Welcome from Morris, Doug!

If you have not been reading on this forum before now, you won't know that the Manitoba group on here usually has 2 or 3 coffee nights a year. We tend to take over a donut shop for an entire evening, and we certainly would like to see you out next time.

I love your car. Wherever did you find that one hiding? Local car?

I love it. I have always loved 65 Custom Sports since I was a 15 year old pumping gas. I had a customer who had a white/black top 65 convert.

Howdy, nice car! I'd agree with 427 Carl  about the range but if the car is as good as the pictures show I'd  definitely put it at the high end.  Does it have a 4 speed or auto  because a 4 speed will jack it up too. (Ithink)  And if it had been a 409 car....whooo boy!

Must be a blast to drive with that perky small block!

Welcome,

I dont think i have seen it around.

Funny, there is the exact same car in a 2dr HT version around town,
Same color combo, same originality, same low miles.....Just a HT instead.
Even has a black vinyl top too.

Very nice car you have. Is it original paint?

What a pretty little unit! How 'bout some pics of the interior as has been suggested? It always blows me away the amount of chrome gadgetry on the dashboards of this particular year and model. Of course, back then, that's when a car WAS A CAR! Nice scoop!

wow, thanks for the warm welcome!
i first saw the car 10 years ago. my buddy bought a house and there it was next door. the owner wasn't too interested in selling but if i showed him 10k he said we could talk. well time went by and that car was always on my mind. so i came back to winnipeg a few weeks ago, been working out of town, and heard that the owner had hurt himself and wasn't working, so the car was up for sale. he was asking 15k for it, but because he needed the cash he made a deal with some guy for 7500, but he didn't leave a deposit. so i swooped in!
unfortunately, it's not the original paint, i'm not sure if its been a frame off restore but he said he had painted the floor like the trunk. and the frame has been painted black as well. it all looks really nice but if you look real close you can see a few blems. but only a few.
oh, 2 speed power glide

so, is it in my best interest to leave it as it is. or start searching the country for a 409 and some clutch and brake peddles and make it into a 4 spd.

also how many of these are out there yet?

As much as I think a 409 with a stick would be cool, I think I'd leave it as is.

And by the way, I think you stole that car. Great deal by the look of it. Can't wait to see it for real.

I'd agree with carl.  Absolutely nothing wrong with what you have especially since it belongs in the car.  Pretty much bulletproof and simple.  Just enjoy it!  Driving a nice one is still better that working on a nice one.
