Once again I am the Chairman of our Ribfest Canada Day BBQ for Toronto East Rotary. We do one day and one day only, best ribs in the GTA bar none. One of our members is a Sysco rep and we buy direct and cook ourselves, no farming out to Ribbers. This is one day Hillar never missed, the racks are beautiful !
This year I thought I would give classic cars guys a treat, Free Parking and Free Ribs!!

Great offer Ray, I wish you were a couple hours closer. It would be a super excuse to go for a cruise. Nothing better than fun, food, and a fundraiser.

If we left Penticton Monday morning we could make it and be back at work the following Monday. I'd be happy to travel in convoy with you. Short week anyways.

Remember, "The Government" only has money confiscated from us.
We do like our racks but Rick and I also like driving our cars. Timing sucks for me though as I'm digging out for a foundation this week. Have to give her for awhile as I've had some time off here.
TORONTO, June 18, 2010: The Toronto East Rotary Club is once again holding their annual Canada Day Ribfest community fundraiser. Last year's inaugural Ribfest was widely successful, drawing a thousand attendees and raising over $10,000 for local groups and charities. This year is expected to be even bigger, and the fundraising target has doubled.
The July 1 event is be held at Whistler's Grille on the north-east corner of Broadview and Mortimer/Pottery Road, overlooking the Don River Valley. Coinciding with the annual TD Toronto Jazz Festival, six jazz, blues and rock bands will play from 11 am to 11 pm. Admission is free.
The East Toronto Rotary Club has been active in the East York and Danforth community for over 45 years. Out-going president Mike Phelan states that the success of last year's event is creating high expectations among residents and local businesses for this year.
"People will come for the ribs, music and the great venue, of course", Phelan notes. "But it also represents a unique opportunity for neighbours to recognize each other and talk, maybe for the first time. Social media is a great innovation, but can't replace real human interaction."
Predicting that this year's Canada Day could see an uptick in the Canadian patriotism on display. incoming president Steve Mastoras believes that it would be entirely justified.
"No question, the success of the Winter Olympics made people a little more willing to show national pride" he states. "The Rotary Club is involved in projects all over the world, especially the disadvantaged regions. That's why Rotarians in Canada have a special appreciation for what a great country this is, and we like to show our gratitude."
Only 3 days away, remember free rack of ribs, corn and water with Classic car VIP parked.
Someone asked me what's the catch. Nothing I said we just want classics there to draw attention to the fundraiser. I said come and park and get your ribs to go if you want...of course based on last year's action and sights no one would do that but you could if you were almost dead!
If you are in East End Toronto check it out. We have the best ribs bar none of all the Ribbers I've even eaten at all the big three day Ribfests.
I'll tell you why, we cook them in the restaurant and bring them out piping hot, sauce and finish on the grille, you will not get a dried out rack or a cold rack and we use Bulls Eye Original sauce, donated by Kraft.
Remember that Juno Award Winner and Canadian Legend George Olliver will perfom as well, we go way back, George first did a gig for me back in '92, the big ballroom at the Toronto Inn on The Park Hotel.
Vicarious enjoyment. Like I enjoyed the scenery in Penticton for you. Not quite the same as being there, but at least someone is enjoying more than they should LOL.
