Project 67Beaumont

Since I'm new I thought I would post my project... It's been 5 years and a buddy and I are going to get it done some day.... This always happens when summer time rolls around and I look at my car one more time I think I'll get it painted this year but I will say it agian hopefully this summer it will get painted...

I got a lot of history with this car owned the car for 18 years, it was my first car right from 16... My father and I worked on it and it took me more then a few summers to pay it off.

Its on its 3rd paint job and a few times I thought about just letting it go, I almost did but I'm sure glad I didn't do that. This time its going to be done right...  First job 17 years was back to a maroon original color. When I hit 19 i figured purple was the thing to do so it went to a plum crazy purple color.  Looked good for a while but about 6 years ago my motor had a knock at idle coming back from a camping trip, so I knew it was a sign it was going to need everything. I wanted to keep the original block so I decided to get the 283 rebuilt. Had the motor done it came out to around 3 ish for the motor all said done headers, intake valve covers all the extra's bolt on items.

I had paint, supplies, 2 rear 1/4's, 2 front fenders, full trunk floor, 1 door skin, 1 full door, tubs done up just right. Picked up a big air compressor and truck load of air tools, great investement not even sure how I wrenched stuff before but life is much easier... An air rivet gun man talk about poppin rivites the easy way.. its amazing... lol

I took some pictures of the progress I would say I'm about half way there.......

LoL bowtieboy when I first saw a few of your posts I thought you had a picture of my car at first as I had centerlines for my car at one time as well... The purple is a nice color I can say the color turned a lot of heads on the street ;)

I enjoy reading project threads. They're inspiring, interesting, and usually humourous in that the project is always taking way longer and costing way more than the original plan!!!

You mentioned you are east of Wpg. Are you right along #1? I get that way sometimes and would love to see the project in real life some day if you are willing.

I also thought a canary yellow would look good as well....

Good question, I was pulling all the interior out and panels and I found this picture tucked way down in a corner...

I think it one of those maze corn fields but your guess would be as good as mine... If you look at the top it almost has a name scribed out....

Grahama Gravea???? I have no clue that's what I read at the top of the picture... Picture looks old material would be from the 70's I would think...

I googled Grahams Grove maze. It's in Manitoba.

At Grahams Groves south of Carman, maps are provided for each of the two mazes the Grahams have built each year since 1998, one small, relatively simple one for warm-up walking, the larger, adjacent maze a far tougher challenge. One year, it was a Tyrannosaurus Rex. Another years was the historical ship, Henry Hudsons Nonsuch. I think this ones the toughest yet, says maze-maker Alan Graham. World-renowned Adrian Fisher designed the Grahams' first maze back in 1998.

Once Graham got a good look at it, he decided he could design mazes, too, and hes been doing them himself ever since, plotting the maze on computer, then using a method similar to the Masses to carve the maze out of his field. Like Boonstra, Graham doesnt use corn, but Grahams plants are a Sudan grass/sorghum cross -- not just to prevent cob throwing, but he says for people with asthma. They get into the middle of a corn maze in pollen season when its blowing all over the place and its terrible.

The T. Rex was no stroll in the park, even with the map. Walking with map, pen and a girlfriend skilled at navigation (by now I had figured out maze-solving was not part of my professional skillset), I found we still doubled back repeatedly, checking positions and reconnoitering from one of the three wooden bridges that punctuate the mazes paths. We did it. It took almost an hour, and a lot of puzzlement and backtracking and scribbling on the map. But we did it. With a little help from a friend and a good map, I finally defeated a corn maze.

Gotta love those colours! When i was getting ready to paint mine, in around 1988, i told my dad plum crazy purple, he said he hated it... so i settled on orange...a month before paint i went to the world of wheels car show and there was a 67 custom, orange with black top... so I switched to corvette yellow, and pulled it out a year later!! the orange car went red and removed the vinyl top! that same winter!!

Same when I went with the Plum Crazy purple I got my dad saying are you sure??? Then a friend who was painting it was also wondering what purple would like and he questioned it as well... When it was finished it looked sharp... After the 10 pounds of bondo starting mutating its way out after a good 4 or 5 years later on the rear 1/4's it started to lose its shine.

Thanks guys much appreciated.... It's one of those things I'm just trying to chip away at and the final results with come. It was nice to glue that rear 1/4 panel on and a few spot welds and the 1/4 is never coming off...

Big thanks to my buddy who has been in this industry over 20 years!!!

Great job and great thread. I look forward to the next pictures. Are you going to go with the custom or the SD trim? Or do I have to wait and see?

Chrome is a good question I'm thinking I want the chrome to go around the fenders and I also like the two strips that go down the bottom like the custom... So I'm thinking go with both types....

Does the SD chrome go around the fenders?

(thanks for all the positive comments I got busy some more last night I plan to cut the other 1/4 out tonight hoping)

Once that's done I can then work on the last section of the trunk and prep up the rust bottom inner tub and then prep for the new outer tub. Then call buddy to get other 1/4 on other side can't wait.

My buddy convinced me to get a door skin for the passenger side so that bondo door will be gone as well making this car complete new medal... very stoked!!
