We knocked on the door and a woman answered. I asked how much they were asking and she said $8500

I think the car will be for sale for a while......

i agree, a long while i suspect,
too bad, would make a neat ride, but you have to buy it
for the right price to make the project worth while

i hope it doesnt spend the next 5 years sinking into the lawn, i wish
people would just enjoy makin a little money and letting things
move on to someone who will treat it right and bring it back to life,

and i agree $2500ish tops

That's what we figured- between $2-3k. It has a solid body going for it but it still needs work on some dents and minor dogleg corrosion. The front bumper is dented also. The front door panels are gone, it needs a carpet, etc etc. The kid hasn't got much into it as I remember he told me his grandfather gave it to him. Who knows, maybe someone will drive buy who has to have it..

You hear a lot of these stories.  Overpriced car sits and sits until it becomes junk, then gets towed to the scrapyard.  Nobody wins in that situation.

Wonder if you very respectfully explained the situation to the person and left them with a phone number and a reasonable standing offer ($3000?) should they change their mind...

Might work.....
